Right away, Damian noticed Cynthia and Marcus standing side by side. His gaze locked onto her, and he called out hoarsely, "Cynthia!"
All the warmth in the air froze instantly.
The softness on Cynthia's face vanished, leaving only icy indifference.
Marcus instinctively shifted to shield Cynthia behind him, his eyes turning cold as he glanced at the uninvited guest.

"Cynthia, come home with me," he cried, his voice cracked and laced with a tremor that bordered on pleading.
"Alice got the punishment she deserved. She and her mother have both been sentenced. I know I was wrong, I truly do. Give me another chance. Don't marry someone else so quickly. Give me a chance to make things right."
Cynthia stood there quietly, looking at the man she had once loved and hated to her core. A strange stillness filled her heart, and it no longer stirred for him.
