Chapter 423
Shelmaine was genuinely afraid of doxxing since anything about a person could be unearthed. Aurora was a perfect example—even her online rants from middle school had been dug up.
This was truly terrifying. At the thought of it, a shiver ran down her spine.
After a while, Samuel came back. As he slid into the driver's seat, he explained, "Nothing's going on between me and Aurora. I don't know why she had come looking for me out of the blue."
"I never said anything about you."
"I'll still want to explain."
"Alright, I trust you." Shelmaine sighed and turned to look at the scenery outside the window.
"Honey…"
“Samuel, just don't be too ruthless." She closed her eyes as if she wasn't the one saying those words.
He gazed at her side profile. Her features were soft and her skin was like porcelain. He gently said, "Honey, I'm not being ruthless. Like I said, this has nothing to do with me."
She didn't respond and pretended not to hear him.
…
Samuel returned to Amberward City with Shelmaine and naturally spent the night at her place. He treated her house as if he was the owner. With the key, he could enter and leave as he pleased.
At night, they spent intimate time and worked on having a baby. He genuinely wanted to have a child with her, and she was well aware of it.
After they were done, Shelmaine received a call from Isabelle as Samuel went for a shower. When she picked up the phone, Isabelle sounded anxious. "Are you two having a wedding?"
"Yes, he wants to."
"Wow, he really wants to settle down with you, huh? He didn't want to do all of these back then, but he's changed his mind now. How rare of him."
"That's rare, indeed." Shelmaine didn't expect this from him, either. She then asked, "By the way, how are things on your end?"
"It's not bad. After your wedding, I'm heading abroad—everything's already arranged."
"Great. You'll still get to be my bridesmaid before you leave."
"Listen, if Samuel dares to upset you again, I'll be the first to bash his head in. I'll show no mercy this time!"
"Alright, I'll leave it to you." Shelmaine chuckled softly.
Samuel came out of the shower. As he dried his hair, he sat on the edge of the bed and asked, "Who was on the phone?"
"Isabelle."
His scorching gaze lingered on her. "Do you know about Isabelle and Luke?"
"Yeah."
"Did she tell you all about it?"
"She did. Why? What are you trying to say?"
"Nothing. I thought you didn't know and wanted to tell you. Since you already know, I shall not waste my breath."
Snorting lightly, Shelmaine turned her back to him and continued scrolling through her phone.
Samuel finished drying his hair and got into bed. He asked, "Honey, are you happy?"
