Chapter 424

"Happy? What about it?" Shelmaine asked. "Well, I just want to know if you like it. Do you?" Samuel replied. She turned around and silenced him. "No, I don't like it at all. If I say so, will you stop doing it?" "Honey…" "Stop looking at me like that." Shelmaine was immune to his actions—she knew about his schemes disguised under his usual pitiful gaze. Samuel sighed. "I just want you to give me more attention. That's all." "I'm already giving you plenty of attention. Want me to tie you to my belt or something?" Samuel understood that their relationship would take some time to return to how it once was, although things were considered decent so far. In the following days, he focused on preparing for the wedding, while Shelmaine didn't intervene much. When asked about the venue, she let him make the decision. She had no plans to interfere because she was four weeks pregnant. She discovered it on a random morning when constant nausea brought her to the hospital for confirmation. It all happened so quickly—though she was mentally prepared, it still felt sudden to her. Instead of telling Samuel immediately, she shared the news with Isabelle first. The latter rushed over to see her and kept her company during checkups. Isabelle also declared that she wanted to be the baby's godmother, which Shelmaine happily agreed to. As the wedding day drew closer, Samuel was still focused on handling all the arrangements. Regarding the guests, Shelmaine had already severed ties with her family. Hence, she only invited her friends and Beatrix. In stark contrast, Samuel's side was filled with people as he had a large social circle. He invited Carl but not Eliana. On the day of the wedding, Samuel's groomsmen oversaw every detail. As she stepped into the venue, Shelmaine was nervous but not regretful. She was happy that her friends were there. When the moment came, Isabelle handed her over to Samuel, who was overflowing with emotion. With a radiant smile, he held Shelmaine's hand tightly. Decorated with pink roses, the venue made one feel as if they were in a sea of flowers. This was exactly the kind of atmosphere she adored. In front of everyone, Samuel made his vow—to love her forever and always, till death did them part. For the sake of their big day, Shelmaine recited her vows accordingly. She didn't shed tears of joy. Instead, she calmly completed the ceremony with him. While changing outfits, Shelmaine received a call. She smiled as she recognized the voice on the other end. "Natasha? How did you still find me?" "Shelmaine, you'll never have my blessings. Never. Peter died because of the Hastings. Since you're marrying Samuel, I want you two to remember this: you'll always have blood on your hands forever!" "You've got it wrong. That was the Hastings, not me. Hasting's not even my last name. Even if Samuel was responsible, it has nothing to do with me. Stop trying to gaslight me, okay?" "You're just as shameless, Shelmaine!" "Not as much as you, though." "Shelmaine Clarke!" Natasha snapped. "Stop yelling. Save your energy." "Don't you get all cocky!" "I sure am. What does that have to do with you? If you're so bitter, go bother Samuel. Why are you harassing me instead? I'm not the one that made your brother die. Blame the one who's responsible." Shelmaine's cold words infuriated Natasha so much that the latter hung up. After finding out about the wedding online, Natasha had someone track down Shelmaine's number, which led to this call. Being abroad, Natasha was constantly being watched and couldn't just return. Samuel clearly wanted her to stay there forever—how ruthless of him!
