Chapter 9
Lorraine had never acted like this before. Even when she was upset, she would at least still answer Luca's calls. At worst, her tone would just be a little distant.
But today was different.
Luca turned and went downstairs, grabbed his car keys, and headed out. He remembered that she had a friend going through a divorce, and maybe he could track her down that way.
At the law firm, the receptionist froze when she saw him. "Mr. Frey…"
He didn't wait for her to finish and strode straight to his office. His gaze landed on a brown paper envelope sitting on his desk. For some reason, his heart skipped a beat, and his fingers trembled slightly as they brushed against it.
As he opened it, the papers slid out. On top was a sheet with the words "Divorce Agreement" printed in bold.
His eyes narrowed abruptly, and he froze.
Divorce?
Lorraine wanted a divorce from him?
She liked him so much. How could she even bring up divorce?
