Haley’s POV:
The days after the incident with Susan passed more peacefully than I expected.
The air at home felt calm. No screaming phone calls, no drama. Just quiet.
Lily had been in a good mood lately. Jordan, too. Somehow, the two of them had stopped bickering and were actually… enjoying each other’s company.
That morning, I set up the living room with brushes, paints, and a big roll of paper.
“Alright, you two,” I said, laying out the supplies. “Today we’re making something special.”
Jordan raised an eyebrow. “Special like what?”
“Like a painting for Grandma,” I explained. “So when she gets home from the hospital, she’ll see it and smile.”
Lily’s eyes lit up. “Can I make lots of flowers? Grandma likes flowers!”
“Yes, flowers are perfect,” I said, squeezing paint onto her palette. “And maybe Jordan can do the background.”
Jordan groaned, but I could see the small smile tugging at his mouth. “Fine. But I’m not painting pink clouds.”
