Haley’s POV:
My life felt like it was finally starting to fall into place. For the first time in a long time, there were no shadows chasing me, no courtroom battles, no betrayals weighing me down.
It was just me. And Logan.
And that thought alone made me smile as I stood near the tall windows of his penthouse, staring out at the endless glittering city lights.
Behind me, I heard his low voice. “You’re smiling.”
I turned slightly, catching his reflection in the glass. He leaned lazily against the wall, arms crossed, his tie undone, shirt half open. His dark hair was falling into his eyes in that messy, perfect way that made my stomach twist.
I shrugged lightly. “Maybe I’m happy.”
“Maybe?” His eyebrow lifted as he pushed himself off the wall and walked closer.
“Fine,” I admitted, biting back a grin. “I’m happy. Is that what you wanted to hear?”
“Not exactly.” His lips curved into that smirk that always made my knees weak. “Because I don’t just want to hear it…”
