Chapter 1051
After all, she had experienced what being drugged felt like, so she knew how intolerable it could get. Regardless, though Xavia couldn’t just allow Stefan to die like this, she also knew that copulating with him wasn’t an option. After all, that was clearly just a trick by that sadistic b*stard outside to ruin her life…!
With that in mind, she immediately began scanning the room again to figure a way out of this place… and in the end, her eyes fell on a lighter on the coffee table.
…Eureka. A fire! Grabbing the lighter, she then began spreading fire across the curtains, bedsheet, and even sofa as she yelled, “Open up, Stefan! I’ve found our way out!”
After draping the burning quilt on the windowsill, Xavia added, “I’ve started a fire that’ll trigger the fire alarm! I’ve also draped a burning quilt out the window so that more people will notice and call the fire department! We’ll be out soon, so hang in there…!”
The warm weather helped fuel the flames, and soon enough, most of the room was on fire!
Stefan, for one, hadn’t expected Xavia to come up with such an insanely dangerous idea! Now a bit soberer from shock, he groaned as he got to his feet again before opening the door and yelling, “Get…! Get in…! Quick!”
Nodding in response, Xavia then rushed in before closing the door behind her. Following that, she drenched a towel in water before slipping it at the bottom of the doorway. Once that was done, she was prompted to say, “Don’t worry, help will surely be on the way…! Hang in there, Stefan…!”
Despite the chaotic situation, she was still worried about him… As he stared at the kind woman’s back, the drug prompted his eyes to look a bit lower… However, he quickly shook his head before dousing his head in cold water again as he grumbled, “…You know, if a rescue team doesn’t arrive in time, we’re both as good as dead…”
Naturally, Xavia knew that. However…
“…This is our best shot now. For context, someone slipped a note under the door, saying that you’ll die if you don’t get medical attention soon… Though they did state that copulating with you would guarantee an antidote… That’s clearly just a fat lie! Regardless, I figured that starting a fire was the quickest way to get us noticed...”
…So she was willing to die in a fire rather than copulate with him? It was depressing to hear, to say the least… Hadn’t he been dating her first…? How had he lost her to Zivon…?
As Stefan continued thinking about it, the fire continued raging outside… and soon enough, smoke began entering the room. To Xavia’s delight, however, it wasn’t long before she heard the main door opening!
Overjoyed, she was prompted to exclaim, “We’re saved…!”
Following that, she cupped a hand over her mouth and nose before opening the door… only to be greeted by an explosion of flames!
“X-Xavia…!”
Moving to Ava’s memorial hall, people could already be heard discussing the fire…
“I heard the Grand Plaza Hotel caught fire, and that President Stefan Talton was inside…”
“Same. I heard there was a woman with him too, and that she’s badly injured…”
“They say she was carried into an ambulance so quickly that nobody was able to see who she really was…”
Eventually, Zivon—who was still kneeling in the funeral hall—overheard their conversations, and after giving a slight frown, he turned to look at Nathan before saying, “Look into that situation, and if no major problems arise, do give Stefan a visit on my behalf…”
Ava’s burial was going to be tomorrow, so Zivon wasn’t about to leave this spot…
Upon hearing that, Nathan nodded before quickly running off to do Zivon’s bidding. It was around then when Zivon felt that something was off regarding the fire… Before he could put his finger on what it was, however, his train of thought was cut short when he saw Sophia walking over.
She had a flower in hand, and after kneeling beside Zivon, she was prompted to say, “I’ve made a deal with the Gaster Company, and though it’s a collaboration between our companies, you don’t need to worry about the work for now. Now that that’s out of the way… Grandma was an honorable person, so I’m sure she’ll make it to heaven… With that said, cheer up a little…”
Sophia had only come today since she had been rushing all her projects in order to finally have some time to peacefully comfort Zivon and help him send Ava off…
Nodding in response, Zivon then stared at the old lady’s monochrome photo… and after a long pause, he replied, “…As the matchmaking rules state… Let’s date for the next three months…”
