Chapter 1061
Nodding in response, Xavia then looked away from her phone as she replied, “Don’t worry, I have faith in him. Even if he ends up falling for her, I’ll simply use that opportunity to cut ties with him…”
“Atta girl! I’m proud of you for thinking that way! That aside… Do take the proposal seriously and try to follow through with the plan. If things go well, you’ll surely be able to proudly stand by Young Master Burton’s side in three months…” said Dolly as she pulled out the proposal—that Xavia had earlier prepared—while patting her on the shoulder.
Since they weren’t going to be meeting for a while, she was planning to use the time to pick up a plethora of new skills… and after a brief pause, Xavia replied, “Yeah… Well, since I need to start learning the craft that we’ll be filming next as soon as possible, could I trouble you to care for Yulia during my absence…? That way, we could potentially start filming earlier…”
“Not a problem!”
With that agreed upon, Xavia quickly began packing some clothes and toiletries… and when morning came, she headed off to Uncle Hal’s private workshop.
Harold Burton had never truly been interested in personal gain back when he was younger. It was why he had chosen to major in Fine Arts, even though it was uncommon for students in Darlsbury University to take that course back in the day. Regardless, he dedicated himself to studying the art of handicrafts, and in the end, he was seasoned enough to receive no shortage of awards from country-wide events.
Unfortunately, it was sometime later when he was falsely accused and imprisoned, which led to Harold having no choice but to put his passion on hold. Now that he was free again, he was spending his days in his workshop again.
As for how Xavia found out about all this, she had initially asked Bianca to help her find masters of craftsmanship in Darlsbury. After all, she had been meaning to learn from actual masters. In the end, Bianca notified her of Uncle Hal, and upon realizing who it was, Xavia contacted him on her own.
Either way, upon seeing Xavia, Harold was quick to smile as he said, “And here I was thinking that you wouldn’t come over from feeling overly upset. I’m glad you showed up in the end, on time, no less.”
This prompted Xavia to frown a little. Was he talking about the news regarding Zivon and Sophia…? Shaking the thought off, Xavia replied, “…Well, he’s only doing this for his grandmother’s sake, and it’s good to be filial, is it not? With that said, I’m not in a bad mood. Also, regarding my attendance… Even if I was sad, I’d have still come over. Otherwise, I’d tarnish my reputation.”
Pleased to hear that, Harold then said, “An excellent response! I expect nothing less from a student of mine! However, do remember that I’m about to teach you things that I’ve learned throughout my life. Basically, consider this a fair warning that I’ll never forgive you if you back out at the very last minute. Do I have myself clear?”
Xavia, for one, had spent quite a while trying to convince Harold to take her under his wing back then. With that in mind, there was no way she was going to give up anytime soon, especially since she was equally passionate about handicraft!
With that, she quickly replied, “Don’t worry, I won’t even dream about giving up! I’m giving it my all!”
“Very well, then! Since that’s the case, let’s start by changing the way you address me… There really isn’t a reason for you to be this courteous, you know?” replied Harold with a smile.
This momentarily stumped Xavia. Was… he implying that she should call him Uncle Hal like Zivon did…? But that’d be a little too embarrassing… In the end, Xavia muttered, “…Well… since you’re teaching me your skills… Perhaps I could call you Teacher…?”
Sighing in response, Harold then said, “I’d prefer if you called me Uncle Hal instead…”
Upon hearing that, she was instantly reminded of the time she accidentally called him that back when they first met. Naturally, this embarrassed her, and she was quick to reply, “…I-I’ll consider calling you that… R-regardless, I need to put my things away first, Teacher! Don’t worry, I’ll be back as soon as I can to assist you with your work!”
“Very well,” said Harold with a grin as he watched the woman scurry off… With how bashful she was, Xavia was pretty much a perfect match for Zivon’s sheer brazenness…
Moving back to Xavia, after she was done unpacking, she slipped on some gloves before rushing back to Uncle Hal’s side… She, for one, was keen on seriously learning all that he had to teach.
Shortly after, she was told that she was going to be taught the ‘Four treasures of the study’ skill, which was an ancient skill that few remembered. In order to properly utilize it, each process had to be perfect, and apparently only extremely valuable materials from the mountains could be used in this art.
However, since Xavia was still new to all this, he only gave her peripheral tasks, such as running errands and cleaning up the workplace… and by the end of the day, Xavia was so tired that all she could do was flop onto her bed.
Though she was tired, Xavia still found herself exceedingly pleased. After all, ever since she got pregnant four years ago, her life had pretty much been stagnant. Now that she finally had a reason to work hard again, she wasn’t about to complain.
Her train of thought was cut short when her phone—which she had placed under her pillow—suddenly began ringing… It was a call from Zivon.
