Chapter 1062
...Wasn’t it already nine…? Shouldn’t he be resting…? That aside, wasn’t he the one who had emphasized how much they should avoid contacting each other back then…? Since that was the case, why was he calling out of the blue?
Curious, she ended up answering the call and calmly saying, “Hello…? Young Master Burton?”
Sensing the lack of vigor in her voice, Zivon was prompted to reply, “…Someone sounds exhausted… What have you been up to?”
Upon hearing that, Xavia couldn’t help but feel pleased. After all, the fact that he could sense her tiredness meant that he truly cared for her… Shaking her head, Xavia quickly said, “I’ve just been busy learning more about video production. That aside, I’ve just showered and I’m currently lying in bed. I’ll be heading to sleep soon. That aside, aren’t you worried that someone will track our call…? Didn’t you say we should minimize our contact…?”
Her politeness was her way of being considerate. After all, Xavia truly cared for his well-being.
Regardless, ever since Zivon had posted that Facebook update, the two hadn’t communicated. Because of that, Zivon had been worried that Xavia was unhappy, which was why he called the second he was done with work. He had honestly been fully prepared to coax and send gifts to her… But from the way she was reacting, she seemed completely fine. As it turned out, she had only been too busy to remember to contact him…
While Zivon knew that this was something good, he couldn’t help but feel slightly irked as well. In the end, he was prompted to mutter, “…I just wanted to see how you were doing. Well, since everything’s fine, do get some rest…”
Following that, Zivon hung up and headed downstairs to grab a glass of water… Xavia herself could sense that something was off with his tone… However, she was too tired to overthink it, and she ended up falling asleep shortly after…
Either way, throughout the following days, Xavia made sure to follow Harold around as he continued working on his crafts, day in and day out… Of the many things he created, she was particularly fascinated with how he created paper the traditional way. She was so impressed, in fact, that she couldn’t help but yearn for the day she’d finally be able to spread such ancient crafts across the globe…
Eventually, she couldn’t help but plead, “…Um… Teacher…? Could I start hands-on learning already…? Just guide me by my side and I assure you I won’t let you down…!”
Upon hearing that, Harold looked at her with a slightly concerned expression as he replied, “…I should warn that your hands are going to get a bit rough the more you do this…”
“Oh, don’t worry about that! Back when I was younger and lived with my grandmother, she taught me lots of similar things! In fact, my hands were pretty much always covered in mud back then! I even know how to make raindrop eggs, so that should say plenty,” said Xavia with a smile. In the end, she was far too interested in such craftsmanship to care about anything else.
Regardless, Harold couldn’t help but furrow his brows when he heard that. After all, back when he was younger, he had gone to the countryside to study, and while he was there, he had met a woman who was capable of making crystal clear raindrop eggs. Not only did they look absolutely stunning, but they also tasted scrumptious!
Sadly, he was never able to find anyone who could replicate such an egg after returning to the city… Whatever the case was, he wondered how that woman was doing…
After a long pause, he was prompted to ask, “…So, your grandmother knew how to make raindrop eggs as well… Could you tell me her name?”
“Of course! Her name was Celia Blake, and the raindrop eggs she made were extremely delicious! For your information, she was able to raise me through the sales of those eggs alone!” declared Xavia in a proud tone.
The second he heard that name, Harold’s eyes instantly widened. Holding onto Xavia’s hands, he quickly asked, “C-Celia Blake?! Did she live in Lotus Village?! The one in S City?!”
“…S-she did… though… How do you know where she lives, Teacher…?” replied Xavia in a slightly confused tone.
Harold, however, found himself momentarily too taken aback to reply. To think that he’d be able to meet Celia’s granddaughter after all this time…! This was surely fate at work…! Once he finally snapped out of it, Harold sighed before explaining his relationship with Celia back in the day. Since he had already said so much, he made sure to tell her about his crush on her as well.
Once he was done, he was prompted to add in a rather eager tone, “Anyway, is she still alive? Is she in S City?”
Upon hearing that, Xavia’s expression instantly darkened. Though she had initially been overjoyed to hear that Harold and her grandmother had been so close before, the fact remained that her grandmother was already dead… In the end, the two were never going to be able to meet again…
It took her a while, but Xavia eventually replied, “…She died about a month ago… It was the case involving Jenna’s fiasco…”
Since the media had a tendency to blur out the faces of victims, Harold had no possible way to know that Celia was involved in that accident. Whatever the case was, it was utterly shocking to hear! To think that she had been in Darlsbury after his release! He could’ve met up with her had he known about this sooner…! Hell, he could’ve even saved her life!
Alas, it was now far too late… He didn’t even get the chance to say goodbye to her…
