Eva’s Point of View
The sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and purple as I parked my car outside the small café Samuel Graves had chosen for our meeting. The location was inconspicuous, tucked away from the city’s bustling streets a place where secrets could be exchanged without fear of prying eyes.
I sat in the car for a moment, gripping the steering wheel as doubt gnawed at my resolve. Was I really about to do this? To ally myself with a man I barely knew, all in the name of revenge?
My thoughts spiraled back to Samuel’s words in the parking lot, his calm yet piercing tone as he spoke of Max’s betrayal. If he was telling the truth, then Max had done more than ruin my life he had destroyed it. And yet, trusting Samuel felt like stepping into a den of vipers.
Taking a deep breath, I pushed the door open and stepped out. The cool evening air bit at my skin, and I wrapped my coat tighter around me as I approached the café.
