Max’s Point of View
The soft hum of the air conditioner filled my office as I leaned back in my chair, staring at the city skyline through the large glass windows. My mind was elsewhere, consumed by the nagging feeling that something was slipping out of my control.
The sound of my office door opening pulled me from my thoughts. Claire, my secretary, walked in with her usual composed demeanor, a thick envelope clutched in her hands. Her face, however, betrayed a hint of unease, something I rarely saw in her.
“Mr. Maximilian,” she began, her voice steady but cautious, “I have something you need to see.”
I straightened in my chair, my eyes narrowing as I gestured for her to proceed. “What is it, Clara

She stepped closer, placing the envelope on my desk with deliberate care. “It’s from the investigator you hired to follow Mr. Samuel Graves. He sent these photos and a report this morning.”
