Chapter 33
After returning to her home country, Melissa could not find suitable work. She believes that staying at the Clarkson family for a long time is not a solution. The money she managed to save while working abroad would also be spent within half a year.
"I really don't know how to advise you on this issue, but if you're looking for a job, you could be a teaching assistant in my class. You've also lived abroad before, so your spoken English is definitely better than mine."
Amy, whose major in university was English, is currently an English teacher in a training institution.
"Everyone has their own specialty, I think I should start with clothing design."
Melissa considered for a moment and politely declined Amy's offer. She doesn't quite like being a teacher.
"That's fine."
Amy nodded, and then she suddenly turned her head to give Melissa a careful look
"By the way, Melissa, were you hurt when you were fighting just now?"
"No, I'm very resilient and not easily injured."
Melissa spoke casually, then let out a bitter smile and rubbed her head and sigh
"but that sly fox did pull out some of my hair. I need to get even with Nancy later."
"Sure, sure, she tore out a few strands of your hair, yet you pinned her down and gave her a good slapping. This is really..."
Amy hesitated, probably unsure of what words to use.
"What? Do you think I was too rough?"
Melissa threatened in jest, stretching out a pair of playful claws, seemingly wanting to playfully tease Amy.
"No, not at all!"
Amy instinctively dodged Melissa. She really feared being tickled,
"I just want to say, those few slaps of yours were absolutely satisfying!"
"Hahaha!"
Melissa too thought she felt awfully satisfying, getting back at that sly woman for the first time in six years. There is plenty of time in the future to settle scores.
"Melissa, we’re almost at the bus station. I'll head home then."
Looking at the stop sign ahead, Amy spoke to Melissa.
"Please don’t. We agreed to treat our hero to a big meal."
Melissa feared Amy would suddenly back out, which she indeed did.
"No, I'll eat another day. Go back to Clarkson's mansion and accompany Alvin and Alvina!"
Amy, ever understanding, thought about how Melissa must be worried about the two children at the Clarkson's mansion, so she didn't want to delay her too much today.
Watching Amy, Melissa was somewhat at a loss for words, feeling somewhat teary. She hugged Amy.
"Amy, you're really too good. One day, let's take Alvina and Alvin, and all four of us can go to a resort for a spa day. It’s on me. Please don’t back out then."
"Okay, I understand. Here comes the bus, I need to get on quickly."
Amy smiled and waved goodbye to Melissa, waiting at the end of the line to get on the bus.
"Bestie, don't forget to send me the video when you get home!"
Melissa shouted as Amy boarded the bus.
"Yeah, of course."
Amy responded to Melissa.
"Be careful at the Clarkson's."
Understanding her, Melissa nodded to Amy. The Clarkson family was indeed a major powerhouse, with immense influence that could not be underestimated.
It made sense for Amy to be cautious. After all, she had just found a way to get back at Liam and Nancy and she didn't want to lose this opportunity.
Initially, Melissa thought she could arrive at the Clarkson mansion earlier and meet the children.
Unexpectedly, an older driver with a bit of a hearing problem misinterpreted her destination, leading them on a totally wrong path.
Then, out of the blue, a massive downpour began, and the roads were jammed with cars.
All Melissa could see ahead were bright red tail lights stretching into the distance, making their arrival time uncertain.
