Scarlett’s POV:
At exactly 10:00 AM, the Rolls-Royce pulled into a private village at the foot of Cloud Mountain.
After entering the gates, the car drove for another five minutes, passing several villas of various styles before finally stopping in front of a row of identical commercial units.
Davis turned off the engine and looked toward the back seat. “Miss Taylor, we’ve arrived.”
I responded with a quiet “Mm” and stepped out of the car.
Though I’d been in Los Angeles for a while now, I had no idea such a secluded, natural villa area even existed.
The air here was much fresher than in the city—hardly any people around, barely any pollution.
Now in early autumn, the maple leaves on the mountain were turning a vivid red. A crisp breeze rustled through the branches, scattering leaves across the quiet paths.
It was the kind of scenic spot that felt perfect for a retreat.
But it was certainly colder than the city. As we stepped out, a chill swept over us.
