Scarlett’s POV:
Five minutes later, Davis and Eleanor came downstairs after settling in.
I stood by the floor-to-ceiling window in the living room, staring outside.
There was a pool just beyond the glass, its water crystal clear, lined with maple trees. The red leaves reflected in the surface against the blue sky—it was beyond gorgeous.
A gust of autumn wind blew past, carrying a flurry of red leaves that fluttered down and gently landed on the water, rippling outward in soft, lazy circles.
"Everett Robinson, I saw this movie the other day… The couple had a house with a pool and maple trees. They kissed in the water with the sunset shining down. It was really romantic."
I’d said that two years ago. Offhandedly. Just a casual remark about a movie I liked. I never meant anything by it.
But he took it seriously.
He went and built this place.
I turned around to look at the room again, my lips curling into a faint, sarcastic smile. It did look exactly like the movie. One hundred percent.
