Chapter 564

"Rest early." Mayra nodded and opened the car door. After getting out, she stopped at the glass window and turned around, only to find that the car had driven away. She had been feeling anxious the entire night but couldn't quite explain it. Mayra wanted to ask Anderson about it but didn't know how to start. She went up the elevator and saw someone at the end of the corridor. Brandon was leaning against the balcony with a lit cigarette in hand. When he saw her stepping out of the elevator, he simply cast her a cold look and returned to his apartment unit. Mayra went directly to Gordon's apartment unit. It was the weekend the next day, and Mayra bought a ticket to Candor City. Gordon and Mayra had been so busy lately that they rarely exchanged messages. She went on a bus heading to Candor City, which she expected to reach around noon. She bought some snacks to prevent herself from starving on the way. She had been to Gordon's studio before, and she didn't inform Gordon about her trip as she wanted to surprise him. Nexus Tech was extremely busy at the time. Mayra saw the pile of clothes on the couch, and the smell was unbearable. When had Gordon become so careless? She set her bag down and headed to Gordon's room, finding it in a mess as well. She then headed to Samuel's room and gathered all the laundry to wash. By the time she was done, it was almost 1:00 pm. She had been cleaning for three hours and was drenched in sweat. She took off her clothes and washed them as well. Once she was done, she put on Gordon's clothes. She was used to the warmth inside the house with the heater on, so it felt cold to walk outside. Not knowing when Gordon would be back, she dried the clothes and took a nap. Two and a half hours later, voices sounded. "It shouldn't be. They're really important documents. I saw them in my bag this morning. How could they be missing? Damn my brain." "Think again," Gordon said. He opened the door, and Samuel froze when he saw the clean living room. "Damn, a thief broke it." Gordon glanced at the bag on the porch. Panicking, he ran into his room without even unplugging his keys. He then saw Mayra sleeping on his bed. Her sudden appearance felt like a dream to him, and when he finally snapped out of it, guilt overwhelmed him. Samuel hurried back to his room and noticed that it had been thoroughly cleaned. Even the ashtray on his table had been cleaned, but all valuables were left untouched. Thrilled, he said, "Damn, Gordon. Someone came in and cleaned my room." Mayra didn't wake up when Gordon came in, but she woke up when Samuel started shouting. She was wearing Gordon's shirt, with one side of her shoulders exposed. Gordon adjusted the shirt and didn't take another glance once he was done. Samuel panicked and immediately turned to leave but returned halfway through to close the door behind him. Meanwhile, Sydney came over impatiently. "I told you to look for documents. What are you doing? Have you found them? Why are you alone? Where's Gordon?" Samuel stopped Sydney from entering the apartment. "Gordon is in his room and handling something important. We'll look for the documents ourselves. We don't need help from outsiders. We wouldn't want any conflict if something goes missing."
