Chapter 577
She lowered her gaze to hide her emotions as she smiled bitterly.
Glancing worriedly at the operating room, she said, "It's fine. It's not like emergencies like this haven't happened before. I'll leave once he wakes up."
In the next instant, Shane's words shook her. "Mr. Barlow knew that you ran into Ms. Sadler, and he's already upset about it. You should know what I mean."
"I… I do. I won't let him know that I was here."
Seeing that she was insisting on staying, Shane refrained from saying too much or chasing her away at this point.
The night passed, and it began to dawn.
In the hall of the hospital, a man was discussing details of a business deal with others at a rather high volume.
Mayra overheard the sounds and dazedly opened her eyes. The white ceiling above her and the irritating scent of sanitizer instantly brought her back to reality.
Recalling something, she jumped out of the bed and opened the door hurriedly.
She instantly spotted a group of people in black suits outside, and it appeared they were in a meeting.
Her series of actions had caused a slight commotion, and everyone turned their gaze at her.
Anderson was wearing a baggy gown. He looked up at her before calmly looking away and saying in a deep voice, "Let's continue…"
Seeing as Anderson was fine, she closed the door awkwardly. Glancing at the time on her phone, it was already 8:00 am, and she wouldn't be able to make it in time for her morning classes.
Mayra was already asleep at 3:00 am when she received a call from Shane.
Learning that Anderson fell ill, she hurried to the hospital.
Anderson was still suffering from chronic headaches, but this time was much worse than the times before. He used to be able to subdue the headache with medication, yet this time, he was sent to the hospital because of it.
The medicine Anderson needed couldn't be purchased in Candor City, and they could only drive to another place for it.
Mayra remained by Anderson's side for the entire night but somehow, she ended up in bed.
Grabbing her phone, she saw that she had received a text from Gordon, "I've called in sick for you at school. Don't worry."
"Take care of yourself. I don't want you to end up in a hospital as well," she replied.
"Alright."
After replying to a few messages, the door was opened.
Shane walked in with bags in his hands. "Mr. Barlow's meeting should end soon. Here are some toiletries and a change of clothes. We shall return to Belchester City after lunch."
Mayra stood. "Is he better now?"
Shane nodded. "He should be fine after taking his medicine. Don't worry, Ms. Sadler."
Glancing at all the things Shane brought, she saw no reason to turn him down. "Thank you."
"You're welcome, Ms. Sadler."
With that, Shane left.
There was a bathroom in the VIP ward, where she briefly washed up. She didn't change into the new clothes prepared for her and left them in the original spot.
Half an hour later, Anderson's meeting ended.
The doctors came to perform a simple check on Anderson while Shane filed the paperwork for discharge.
Inside the Maybach, the heater was on, and Mayra sat quietly with her bag in hand.
Since Anderson was discharged, the two had not exchanged a single word.
