Chapter 57 Two Can Play This Game

I hated this.
Hated that I had to play along with Nicholas’s little game just to secure this deal.
Hated that I was letting him have the upper hand.
But most of all, I hated the fact that I didn’t have any other choice.
As I stared across the table at Nicholas, watching his smug expression as he sipped his wine, I silently hoped that whatever he had planned wasn’t going to be something utterly stupid. Knowing him, though, that was probably wishful thinking.
“Alright,” I said through gritted teeth. “One dinner. No cameras. No business talk. Just us.”
Nicholas leaned back, looking far too pleased with himself. “See? That wasn’t so hard, was it?”
I shot him a glare. “Don’t push your luck.”
He only smirked in response.
The rest of the dinner was surprisingly tolerable—mostly because I kept steering the conversation away from anything personal. Nicholas, however, had other ideas.
