Katelyn’s POV
One evening, Ethan and I went back to his house together. The day had been long, and I felt tired but also strangely at peace.
When we stepped inside, I immediately noticed that Ethan had dimmed the lights and set the dining table for two.
There were candles in the middle of the table. Their small flames flickered, making the whole living room feel warm and safe.
There were no hidden feelings or tension in the air, everything was calm and comfortable. The smell of food drifted from the kitchen.
Ethan had cooked dinner for us himself. He served chicken, mashed potatoes, and a simple salad. It wasn’t fancy, but it was exactly what I liked.
We sat together and talked as we ate. Ethan looked happy that I enjoyed the food, and I could see the effort he’d put into everything.
There was no need for big, fancy words. I simply said, “This is really good, Ethan.” He smiled, and I knew he was pleased, because his eyes softened, and he looked down at his plate, almost shy.
