“What have you been up to,” Aria demanded.
She was cleaning up the tables in the restaurant when I came in. The crowd had thinned out, leaving only a couple by the window and an old man reading a newspaper at the side of the room. And suddenly, I felt bad for letting her do all the work.
"I'm sorry," I muttered under my breath.
She stared at me, her gaze cold for a moment before finally letting out a sigh. "Look, I'm sorry about your friend, Kara. I had no idea what would happen at the party."
I poured myself a drink, leaning back on the wall, staring hard at the swirling liquid in the glass cup before answering. "I know. I just wish things were a bit different." I let out a sigh, turning away.
"You should report to the police." Aria's voice cut through my train of thoughts.
"They'll file a missing person report and you'll know what to do."
I gave another sigh. How was I going to explain to her that the police weren't going to help with something like this? We weren't even suppose
