#Chapter 198: The Timely Escape
Ella’s POV
My eyes went as wide as saucers when I saw the photographs Lilith had taken.
There were multiple journal entries—all outlining some grand search for the artifacts, which apparently had some kind of extra potency thanks to their connection to me and Lilith. There was a crudely-drawn map, too, with a big, red “X” marking the spot where the artifacts were allegedly located.
This was an incredible discovery. This was the type of discovery that could change anything.
My heart soared, fresh hope surging within me. The artifacts might exist after all. Not only that, but we might just know where they were.
But then I remembered, with a bitter pang in my chest, that Lilith and I weren’t alone.
Alexander was sitting right there. He had heard everything. And when we both turned to look at him, his eyes were as hard as two emeralds, face dark with anger and confusion.
“What artifacts?” he asked. His voice was low. Dangerous.
