Chapter 669 Are You Defending Your Mommy?
“Don’t call?” Iris lowered her phone. “Then what about Lil Millet? What is Young Master Yeich…”
“It’s fine.”
Madeleine smiled. “Just let him take Lil Millet. He just found out about this and he needs some time to digest the truth. Besides… Lil Millet is not stupid. Regardless of what happened, Mason is Lil Millet’s biological father, he won’t harm Lil Millet.”
Since Madeleine said so, Iris had nothing to comment but nod her head.
“Alright then, it’s good to know that you’re aware of what to do.”
“Go sleep. Don’t run out anymore.”
“Sure, goodnight.”
Iris held her phone as she walked back to her room when she heard Madeleine speak behind her.
“Remember this, do not let my brother know about this. I know you’re worried for me, but… there’s no need to tell him everything that happens to me.”
Iris’s back stiffened and then she nodded her head.
“Understood!”
…
Mason had just driven off when Lil Millet, who was at the passenger seat, spoke with a cute voice.
“Uncle, where are you bringing me to?”
Mason’s hand that was holding the steering wheel shuddered a little as he side-eyed the little boy sitting next to him. He said with a voice so gentle that he did not notice as well.
“Didn’t I tell you not to call me uncle? You need to call me daddy.”
Lil Millet blinked his eyes innocently at Mason.
“Hmm? Try calling you daddy?” Mason felt his breathing quickened but as he waited with bated breath, he still did not receive the word daddy that he had been waiting for. What he got was dead silence.
Mason glanced to the side at Lil Millet.
“Why are you silent?”
Lil Millet pressed his lips together and said, “I won’t.”
Mason held his breath for a moment when he heard that.
“Why?”
“Mommy didn’t say that you’re my daddy, so I cannot simply call you that.”
‘So, that’s the reason.’ Mason smiled. “But your mommy didn’t deny that I’m your daddy. Furthermore, both of us look alike. If I’m not your daddy, then who is?”
Lil Millet leaned closer to Mason and stared at his face carefully before leaning back into the chair. He crossed his little arms across his chest like an adult.
“Nope. Even if you look like me, I still can’t call you daddy.”
“… Why… is that so?”
“Hmph. Even if you’re my daddy, I don’t want you to be my daddy either.”
That sentence was like an arrow that pierced into Mason’s heart. Fortunately, they arrived at a red traffic light. He stopped the car and looked at Lil Millet.
“Can you tell me why?”
Mason was still feeling surreal as he looked at this small boy who looked like him. His heart was feeling marveled by it as well.
He only had one family left in this world, which was Annette Soller.
They were not directly related, but… they were still somewhat related.
Now, he had a boy who shared half of his genes.
That feeling was exciting and frightening at the same time.
“Hmph. Mommy has been the only one taking care of me since I was born. Now I’m already five years old when you suddenly appear. Why should I acknowledge you as my daddy? I don’t want it!”
He then turned his head away willfully as if he was angry at Mason.
Mason fell into silence upon hearing what Lil Millet had said.
For the past five years, Madeleine had been the one taking care of Lil Millet while he was nowhere to be found and had never seen his son nor had he fulfilled any responsibilities.
‘A woman raising a child by herself…’
If it was not for his childhood experience, he would never have known how difficult that was.
It was because he had such an experience as a child with a single parent, his mother had a hard life raising him. He knew how her life was when she was still alive.
“Kiddo.” Mason suddenly called him.
“What is it?” Lil Millet turned around to look at Mason.
Mason saw his expression and smiled slightly. “Are you defending your mommy?”
Lil Millet scoffed. “Mommy doesn’t need me to defend her because she is the best.”
“I know that your mommy is the best,” Mason said in defeat. “But I’m not a bad person either. It’s my fault that I didn’t take care of you for the past five years, so… I’ve repented and wish to make amends. I will take care of you to atone for my mistakes, would you give me that chance?”
Honk!
The car behind honked at them because the red light had turned green, but because Mason was in a conversation with Lil Millet, he did not notice that.
Mason then continued to drive the car and said, “Alright. We’ll continue this conversation when we get home. Don’t call me uncle anymore, you need to call me daddy.”
Lil Millet sat there with his blinking eyes, looking all innocent and cute, but under that cute facade was a sly fox that nobody noticed.
‘Hmph. He has never done a single thing as a father and wants me to call him daddy the moment we met? He has such fat hopes in comparison to what he has done.
‘He even took me out of mommy’s house. It’s so obvious that he is mad at mommy!
‘My mommy is the world’s best mommy!
‘How can he get mad at her! Bad guy!!!’
Lil Millet was scolding Mason inside his heart while making cunning plans.
‘Useless daddy. He has caused mommy to feel sad. I must avenge mommy for this and punish him ten times, no, hundred times over.’
It was late at night but Mason still drove quite a distance and brought Lil Millet back to the Coastal Villa.
The guards at the gate were bewildered when they saw Mason’s car approaching. ‘Why is he back here when it’s not that time of the year? Is he back with Young Madam?’
When the car reached the gates, they nearly fell to the ground and it took them about ten seconds or more before they regained their senses.
“What the f*ck? Are my eyes playing tricks? Was there someone in the passenger seat? Did I see that correctly?”
“I think I saw a ghost… it looks like a kid sitting in the passenger seat next to Young Master Yeich???”
“Sheesh! What nonsense are you talking about? Young Master Yeich is a distinguished and strong person, why would a ghost be with him? Who… is that child we saw earlier?”
“Wait a minute!!! That boy looks like Young Master Yeich!!!”
“F*ck it!!! Is that Young Master Yeich’s son??” They looked at each other in silence.
It took them a while before they gasped together.
“Since when did Young Master Yeich have a son?”
At the same time, Mason had stopped his car and opened the door for Lil Millet. When Lil Millet got out of the car, Mason carefully placed his hand above Lil Millet’s head to prevent Lil Millet from knocking his head on the roof of the car.
