Chapter 676 Avoid Seeing Me

Madeleine noticed that his steps did slow down for a bit but then he continued to walk on as if nothing happened. She widened her eyes in disbelief as she stared at his back. ‘This fella… ‘I saw that he heard me just now but he just slowed down for a split second and continued to walk. ‘Is he pretending as if he didn’t hear me? ‘Is he adamant on ignoring me?’ Anger rose within Madeleine’s heart. She bit her lower lip and chased further, shouting once again, “Mason Yeich, I’m going to block you on Facebook if you won’t wait for me!” This time, that man stopped walking. Madeleine was finding it hard to catch her breath. She stopped chasing after him since he had stopped as well, and she stood there looking at his back. ‘Will he turn back?’ Madeleine thought to herself, ‘If Mason still refuses to turn back, I will march off, and… and I will make sure to block his contact!!!’ She bit her lower lip, stood there, and stared at Mason’s back. She waited for a long time but he still did not move. Madeleine could not help from asking, “Aren’t you going to look back?” It was a question with a double meaning. On the surface, she was asking if he would not turn around to look at her, but she was really asking about his decision on this recent incident. She purposely asked that way because she knew that with Mason’s intelligence, he would understand what she meant. He said that he needed time to think about it, so she agreed to give him that. She had given him three days to think about it. She felt that no matter how angry he was, three days should be enough for him to think things through and come to a decision. That was why she came to look for him today for an answer. She did not speak too loudly but she was sure that with the distance between them, Mason could still hear her. She then decided to wait there silently for an answer. It felt so long that she was beginning to feel hopeless. Just as she was about to give up and run away, the man standing in front of her finally moved. He slowly turned around, Madeleine missed his handsome yet well-defined side profile as if she had not seen him for many years. As he completely turned to look at her, she could finally see the full view of his handsome face, and that was when she heard her heart pounding rapidly inside her chest. She bit her lower lip and stood there as they looked at each other from a distance. He did not seem like he wanted to walk over to her. Madeleine thought about it and slowly walked toward him. Just as was about to reach him, she thought of something and stopped a short distance away from him. Mason’s lips moved and looked at her with complexities. She had such a sad smile on her face. “Are you planning to avoid seeing me if I didn’t come looking for you?” Mason pursed his lips as he continued to look at her with a cold gaze. “Is that so?” Madeleine asked again. She figured that since she was here now, she might as well sort this issue once and for all. Mason continued to stare at her in silence. After they looked at each other for some time, Madeleine spoke in defeat, “I know that it’s my fault for hiding this from you for so long, but… you don’t know my reasons and the many things that happened in between. When I found out about it, I dared not believe it as well, because… I didn’t know that you were the man that night. Can’t you put yourself in my shoes for a moment and think? If I knew that you were the man that night, I wouldn’t need to endure your humiliation when I married you back then.” ‘Humiliation?’ Mason thought about the times where he always mocked her for carrying a b*stard, that she was a promiscuous woman, and even felt that she was the stupidest woman he had ever met. Back then, he was under the impression that she insisted on keeping the baby of her ex-husband after he had dumped her for his mistress. It turned out that she had been pregnant with his child all that time. Furthermore… she was still a virgin that night. ‘How is that possible?’ Mason’s gaze shifted. When Simon investigated her back then, he knew that she had been married for two years, so how could she still be a virgin? ‘Does it mean that she had never slept with that man over those two years? ‘So… I’m the first man she slept with??’ Mason was feeling excited at that revelation. If you'd told me earlier, then this wouldn't have happened.” Madeleine was silent for a moment before she spoke, “… I’ve just only accepted you not too long ago. Have you forgotten how you’ve treated me in the past? You refused me entry when I went to look for you. I can understand it… if you want to blame me for this, but are you going to continue to ignore me?”
