"Sullivan, your clothes are soaked through. You should really go back and change. Emma and I are fine now, there's no need for you to keep staying here. Oh, and can I borrow your phone real quick? Mine's missing-I need to call my parents."
Camila's soft voice broke the awkward silence like a small pebble hitting still water.
Her voice was always gentle, but right now, since her strength wasn't fully back, it sounded even softer, light and tender in Sullivan's ears. It made his posture just slightly stiffen.
Without a word, he looked away, avoiding her gaze-afraid she might catch on to what he was thinking.
"It's alright. I'll leave after your family shows up," he said casually, handing her the phone.
Their fingers brushed when she took it.
His palm was warm against her slightly chilly touch, and she unknowingly tensed up.
