Chapter 40
After we finished washing up, Oliver and I lay down for a bit before heading out.
He told me we were going to check out some houses today, and I’d get to choose the one I liked best.
Our first stop was one suggested by Grandpa Charlie. The Winterfall Woods area was pretty big, but there weren’t many werewolves around. As soon as Oliver pulled up with me in the car, I felt a little on edge.
We got out, and he wrapped an arm around my shoulders. “Hey, it’s okay. This place was built on Grandpa Charlie’s orders, but he never ended up living here. It’s prime Alpha territory, so yeah, not many others hang around.”
Oliver spoke seriously as he opened the large gate leading up to the estate.
I tilted my head, taking in the view. Neatly arranged cobblestone paths were lined with so many gorgeous flowers—I couldn’t even name most of them.
Behind the flowerbeds, there was a small artificial lake, and I even spotted a few little fish swimming around.
“It’s beautiful,” I said, genuinely impressed.
