Chapter 11

I don't want to go to school today. And the talk with my parents last night doesn't make it any better. "Hanna, I thought we told you to stay away from Chadley and his family" my mom immediately shouts as soon as I walk through the door I literally just walked through the door. Can she at least wait until I put my bag down? "Mom, I can explain" I say as I cautiously walk up to her, my mother trailing behind me "Please, do" she allows and crosses her arms disapprovingly Ugh. I hate that look. "He and I talked everything out and decided to give it a second chance" I tell her hoping that she'll understand "Hanna, he cheated on you, why would you take him back?!" My mother exclaims as she walks up to my mom "I just told you that we talked everything through with each other" I tell them as I cross my arms with frustration "Just because you talked everything through doesn't mean that he won't do it again" my mom tells me I huff, growing tired of this interrogation. "If you don't mind, I have homework to do" I say with an emotionless tone of voice before rolling my eyes and running up the stairs I hear a knock on the door which causes me to jump from surprise. "Hanna, get dressed, Bailey and Faith will be here soon" My mother says before I hear her footsteps retreat away from my door I groan out as I grab a pillow and place it over my face. "I hate school" I grumble out The doorbell rings informing me of Bailey and Faith's arrival. I practically force myself up and out of bed before walking towards the bathroom. Why does school have to be so early in the morning? - After finishing my business in the bathroom I made my way towards my room where Bailey and Faith were reading something on Bailey's phone. "What are you guys looking at?" I ask them as I enter my closet As I pick out my outfit they seem frustrated with whatever they're looking at. "Our theater teacher assigned us a project that's due in two days" Faith says with obvious distaste "What do you have to do?" I ask as I finish picking out my clothes I ended up choosing a white off the shoulder cropped top which I ended up pairing with a pair of dark blue skinny jeans that have rips in the knee area. When I'm fully dressed I slip on a pair of white low cut converse and pull my hair back into a fishtail braid. "We have to film and direct a short, ten minute, film inspired by a book" Bailey explains as I exit my closet I give them a confused facial expression. "That doesn't seem too hard" I say causing Faith to roll her eyes "Hanna, the movie has to have a 'special twist'" Faith adds The both of them stand up from my bed and follow me out of my room and down the stairs, where my family is currently eating breakfast. "Oh, well do you guys have any ideas?" I ask before I grab my backpack and say goodbye to my parents "Nope" they both answer simultaneously "Well I hope that you figure something out" I tell them I truly wonder what kind of book they're going to choose since Bailey and Faith have two completely different views on books. - Ever since we arrived at school this morning it feels like the time has been going by slower than usual. I'm currently in second period and I've almost fell asleep five times already. "Hanna, wake up" my seat mate whispers to me as she uses her elbow to nudge my arm I jump awake only for my eyes to immediately shoot towards the clock. One minute left. Ugh. I want this class to be over already. My math teacher continues to go on about a random backstory involving her ex husband. The reason why everyone is pretending to be interested in her story is because they don't want any homework. It happens almost everyday. I'm in the midst of packing my backpack when the bell rings causing everyone to practically run out of the classroom. I quickly close my backpack and grab my phone before standing up and exiting the room, making my way towards my schools second cafeteria. Bailey, Faith and I usually eat in the second cafeteria throughout the school year since it has better food and more tables. Once I enter the cafeteria I order my lunch and make my way over towards our lunch table where Bailey, Faith and Aurelia are currently sitting. Where is Chadley at? I haven't seen him all day. "Hanna, you're finally here!" Bailey says with an excited tone of voice "Why, did I miss something?" I ask them with a confused facial expression "We figured out what we want to do our theatre project on" Faith informs me causing me to smile as I take a seat beside Aurelia "Really, what did you guys decide on?" Aurelia questions as she moves her backpack so that I can sit down "Romeo and Juliet" Bailey exclaims with excitement Aurelia and I freeze in our spots. Are they serious? "It's the only thing that we could think of on such short notice" Faith tells us when she notices our conflicted facial expressions "Oh, well what's the twist that you guys are planning to do?" I ask them Bailey and Faith turn to give each other a look. "Well, we chose two things" Bailey starts off "The first one being that instead of the original dying for each other, we'll end it when they kiss" Faith adds on "So it's basically like every other romantic novel then?" Aurelia questions "No, because instead of it being a traditional love story, both characters will be played by girls" Bailey exclaims with excitement "I don't think you guys realize how many people have already done what you are planning to do" I tell them with a cautious tone of voice I don't want to crush their idea, but they're picking topics that people have done over and over again for years. "Hanna, we're not expecting to get an 'A'" Faith tells me I nod my head, choosing not to argue with them. "Who are you guys going to recruit to be Romeo and Juliet?" Aurelia questions as she takes a bite of her French fry "We were actually thinking about the both of you" Faith says causing my eyes to widen and Aurelia to choke on her french fry "You're kidding right?! Hanna just came around to tolerating me" Aurelia says Bailey and Faith laugh at this piece of information. "You guys don't really have to kiss" Faith says with an eye roll "Yeah, you could stage kiss" Bailey encourages I hear the door behind us open alerting everyone that someone just walked in. "I'll think about it" I say since I'm not completely comfortable with kissing a girl at the moment "Please tell us your answer tomorrow morning, we need to start filming tomorrow after school" Bailey informs us "You'll think about what?" Chadley asks as he takes a seat beside me on the bench "It's nothing" I assure him as he takes one of my fries off my tray At least now I have something to think about during my last two classes. - I hear a knock at my bedroom door causing me to jump from slight shock. "Come in" I yell as I place my laptop in front of me, taking my first break from homework ever since I arrived home My door opens only to reveal my mom. I smile at her as if silently inviting her in. "Hey, dinner is ready, plus I'm sure you need a break" she says convincingly as she motions towards my laptop I nod my head but continue to nervously fidget in my spot. "Mom, Can I talk to you?" I ask her Her smile falls and she instantly nods her head, walking up to me and taking a seat on my bed. "Of course, honey, what's on your mind?" She asks me I bring my hands up to quickly tie my hair up in a messy bun. "Bailey and Faith have a project due in two days for their theater class," I start off "They have to direct a ten minute film of a book and they chose Romeo and Juliet," I continue on making my mom nod her head slowly "The problem is that they had to add a twist to it, which they did" I finish with a cliffhanger My mom gives me a confused facial expression. "Hanna, I'm not really seeing the problem here" she tells me "The problem is that they chose to make it into a modern day romantic novel and have both of the main characters be females" I explain "Okay?" She says, not really understanding my distress "They want Aurelia and I to play each other's love interest" I tell her which makes her smile "Sweetie, that's wonderful" she tells me but I shake my head "Mom, her and I have to kiss, I'm not ready for that" I say with a vulnerable tone of voice "Hanna, I'm sure that Bailey and Faith wouldn't actually make the two of you kiss" my mom says "They gave us the option of stage kissing but it doesn't make me feel any less awkward about," I tell her "Her and I literally just got on good terms yesterday" I finish with a stressed tone She reaches out and places a hand on my shoulder lovingly. "I can't force you to do something, but I can persuade you to do something. How about you talk to Aurelia and get her thoughts on this subject before making any permanent decisions" my mom suggests I nod my head in agreement. That's a great idea. I'll meet up with Aurelia and talk with her so that we can come to an agreement. This is perfect. "Thanks, mom" I tell her as I lean over to give her a hug She laughs at my eagerness but nonetheless embraces me. "No problem, but seriously, lets go downstairs, I'm starving" she says making me laugh We should go downstairs before Isabella takes most of the food.
