Chapter 13

"Chadley, wait" I call after him again only this time I grab him arm "Let go of me, Hanna" he says "No, let me explain" I tell him only to receive a harsh glare "I think that kiss explains everything" he says before yanking his hand out of mine and walking away I'm frozen in my spot as I watch my now ex boyfriend walk away from me. "Hey, Hanna, are you okay?" Bailey asks as she suddenly appears in front of me without her camera "He took everything out of context and broke up with me" I explain as my eyes land on her face "Did he say what he saw?" She asks curiously I shake my head as I wrap my arms around myself. "No, but I know that he saw the kiss" I tell her "I'm sure he'll come around, Han" she says using my nickname "I don't know," I tell her as I think back to the memory "He didn't seem angry or mad... he seemed confused" I say causing my eyebrows to furrow Bailey gives me a confused facial expression. Just as she's about to ask me something we're interrupted by an amused looking Faith. "Hanna, what was that?" She asks as she stops in front of us "What do you mean?" I ask her "We called 'cut' during that scene like five times" she informs me causing my eyes to widen and my heart to speed up Oh god. She knows. "Oh, I have to go change, my moms are here" I quickly blurt out As I'm turning around I catch a glance of a worried looking Aurelia but choose to ignore and just speed up my steps. I don't think that I can handle any more drama today. - "Hanna" my mom calls my name, causing me to jump in shock We're in the middle of dinner and, surprisingly, I'm not hungry. I took a few bites but I've just been distracted ever since I left the school. What are these feelings that I'm having? I didn't feel like this a week ago. Heck, I didn't even feel like this two days ago! Now, I'm just completely, utterly confused. On top of that my boyfriend, who I was just starting to work things out with, broke up with me because he saw me kissing a girl. A girl that I consider my friend. Ugh. Why did I have to kiss her? Why did I agree to be in that film? "Hanna" my mother calls next making me jump again I look up at them only to notice that the both of them are giving me worried facial expressions. "Huh?" I ask with a confused tone of voice "We asked how your day was" my mom informs me causing my heart to sink "Oh, it was fine," I reply as I begin to poke at my salad They give each other a look before harshly whispering to each other. "If you guys don't mind I would like to be excused" I request, carefully placing my fork down The both of them give me a confused look as I stand up and silently make my way upstairs. I just want to sleeep. The faster I fall asleep, the faster this day will be over. As soon as I enter my room I make my way towards my bed and flop down on it, too tired to change my clothes. A few minutes pass by before I hear a light knock on my open door. "Hanna, sweetie, can we come in?" My mom asks causing me to avert my eyes away from my desk and towards my parents I don't respond as they timidly enter my room with a knowing look. They each take a seat beside me on my bed before speaking. "We're sorry, Hanna" my mother starts off making me furrow my brows with confusion Why are they sorry? I'm the one who practically ruined dinner. "See, sweetie, this is what we were trying to avoid" my mom says as she motions towards my saddened facial features "Yeah, we didn't forbid you from dating Chadley for our amusement, we forbid you from dating him because he broke your heart before and we didn't want to see you like this again" My mother explains I sigh as I sit up in my bed and lean my back against the headboard. "It's not just because of Chadley" I tell them, making their eyebrows furrow and a confused look fall over their face "What are you talking about?" My mother questions me "You know how I had to stay after school to help Bailey and Faith with their project, well during the last scene that we filmed Aurelia and I had to kiss" I expose making my mom's eyes widen as my mother tries to hide a smirk "Go on" my mom urges "Well, during our second kiss Chadley caught us. I went to chase after him but he made it very clear that he was breaking up with me" I finish explaining "I'm sorry, second kiss?" My mom questions with comically wide eyes "Babe, not now" my mother says as she waves off my mom "It was a weird moment, like he didn't seem mad or angry, just confused" I tell them "Try to see it from his eyes, he just saw his girlfriend kissing another girl who practically popped up out of nowhere" my mom tries to reason I guess she's right. If the roles were reversed and I walked in on Chadley kissing another guy I would be confused too. "Can I ask you guys something?" I ask after a long paused "Yeah, of course" my mother replies "How did you know when you preferred girls over guys?" I ask them honestly My mother smiles at me knowingly while my mom blushes nervously. "I always knew that I preferred girls over guys, your mom on the other hand" my mother trails off causing my mom to hit her shoulder "Charlotte!" My mom exclaims "What? It's true, it took me kissing you on Christmas day under the mistletoe to open your eyes" my mother says Oh, so that's how they ended up together. I wonder why they never told us this story before. "Hanna, trust me, you'll know when you prefer girls over guys" my mom tells me causing me to nod my head "Well, we're going to retire for the night, we hope that you figure all of this out soon" My mother says before placing a kiss on my head "We love you, sleep tight" my mom says before placing a kiss on top of my head and exiting my room with my mother Never have I ever been so thankful for a random teacher workday tomorrow. - "Hanna, get up!" Bailey yells as she rips my blanket off of my body "Leave me alone" I grunt out as I cover my head with my pillow "No, your parents told us that you've been up here all day" Faith says with an incredulous tone of voice "Yeah, What are you trying to do, kill yourself?!" Bailey adds on "Look," I say as I sit up so that I'm facing my overdramatic friends "I appreciate what you guys are trying to do, but I just want be alone" I tell them honestly "Hanna," Bailey says as she sits down on my bed Faith follows suit, using her hand to gently brush my frizzy hair out of my face so that she can get a clear view of my face. "We love you, we don't want to see you hurt yourself" she finishes with a smile I choose not to respond as I unwillingly get up and grab my blanket before making my way out of my bedroom. "Hanna, wait," Bailey says as she stands up from my bed and follows me down the stairs I ignore her and briskly walk past Haley and Isabella, who came back from Aunt Carolina's house this morning, and into the kitchen. "Hanna, why won't you listen to me?" She says with a frustrated tone as she stops in front of the kitchen island "Because my life is basically over, therefore I want to, and I will, wallow in my room until I feel better" I say as I grab a tub of ice cream from our freezer as well as a metal spoon "Your life isn't over, you have friends and family who all love you" she says following me upstairs "Yeah, right" I agree but allow my mind to wander off What if what my parents said were true. That I'd instantly know if I were attracted to girls or not. Yeah, I always seem to admire girls from afar but that's all it is. Admiring. "Aurelia texted you" Faith informs me as Bailey and I walk into the room "Okay" I reply, flopping down on my bed and turning on my television "Don't you want to know what she said?" Bailey questions as if I'm insane "Nope" I reply shoving a spoonful of 'cookies and cream' ice cream into my mouth "Okay, am I missing something or did the both of you not practically make out with each other at the end of the movie?" Faith says with a confused tone of voice "It's called acting" I reply with an emotionless tone before shoving another spoonful of ice cream into my mouth "You're kidding, right?!" Faith questions "Nope" I reply shoving another spoonful of ice cream into my mouth "Hanna, the look you guys gave each other afterwards basically said everything that words couldn't" Bailey says with a frustrated tone "Yeah, If Chadley didn't ruin it then Aurelia and you might even be dating" Faith adds on "Guys, while I love your enthusiasm there are two problems with those statements" I inform them "Which are?" Bailey asks "One, her and I are just barely friends and, two, I'm not a lesbian" I say causing them to laugh When they realize that I'm not laughing they suddenly stop. "Oh, you were serious?" Faith asks "Yeah, why would I lie about that?" I question with a confused facial expression Bailey places a gentle hand on my shoulder and sighs. "Hanna, you're not straight" she tells me as if I'm going to punch her "What are you talking about?" I ask her with a confused tone of voice "Well first off, no one is completely straight," she starts I go to argue with her but she silently shuts me down causing me to pout. "Secondly, ever since you've met Aurelia you've been different, more independent" she says "What are you talking about?" I ask her as I place my ice cream to the side "Think about it, before she arrived you sucked up to Chadley and his family like a marshmallow to a s'more," she begins with a faraway expression Ouch, Bailey. Way to hurt a girl's ego. "Now that Aurelia is in your life you're more independent and you don't seem that into Chadley anymore" she says making me furrow my brows "I was into Chadley" I defend myself "Yeah, was, then you got a taste of Aurelia's skittles, now there's no going back" she says causing my eyes to widen "Aurelia's skittles?!" I exclaim in shock causing Faith's eyes to widen "No, not like that! She means Aurelia's lips, get your head out of the gutter, Hanna" Faith scolds "How am I automatically supposed to know what 'Aurelia's skittles' mean?!" I ask as I shove a spoonful of ice cream into my mouth My phone begins to ring causing the three of us to jump from surprise. Faith grabs my phone only for a smirk to appear on her face when she reads the caller identification. "It's your future wife" Bailey jokes causing my cheeks to warm up "That's not funny" I mumble as my blush increases Faith instantly shoves the phone into my hands. "Answer it" she urges I roll my eyes at her before declining the call and silencing my phone. "Am I crazy or did you just decline the hottest girl in schools phone call?" Bailey asks with an over dramatic tone of voice "Guys, you don't understand, some people are made for love, like my parents, and others aren't," I trail off "Like me" I sigh There's a knock on my bedroom door before my mom walks in. "There's someone at the door for you, sweetheart" she tells me with a small smile before walking away There's someone at the door? "Did you guys invite anyone else over?" I ask them curiously Oh god. Please don't tell me that they invited Aurelia over. "No" Faith says with a facial expression that mimics mine "My mom just texted me, we have to go" Bailey informs us as she looks down at her phone "Uh, okay, I guess you'll get to see who this mystery stranger is" I says as I get up off of my bed I wonder who the person will be.
