Chapter 4118
They had taken a few days of sick leave, but after receiving the news, they miraculously “recovered” and returned to work.
However, their behavior did not improve. They continued strutting around the company, acting as if they owned the place, just as they had before.
While others completed the tasks Liberty assigned on time, the three Clark brothers always dragged their feet. They only ever barely managed to finish them after repeated urging, and the results were still always far from satisfactory.
“Look at the plans and reports you submitted. They’re a complete mess! What kind of work is this? You all sit in the positions of vice president, earning high salaries, and this is how you perform?
“Do you think your work justifies your pay?”
In the CEO’s office, Liberty sat behind her crescent-shaped desk. The three Clark brothers stood in front of her, having been summoned.
Liberty slammed their work results onto the desk in front of them and her face was filled with anger as she berated them.
Adrian pulled out a chair and sat down. “Liberty—”
“Who said you could sit? Here at the office, address me as CEO Fisher. I’ve changed my surname to Fisher. From now on, I am Liberty Fisher.”
Liberty cut him off sharply, demanding that Adrian stand up.
“With your work ethic, what company would tolerate you?
“All three Vice President Clarks, I’m giving you a serious warning—if you don’t change your attitude, don’t blame me for being harsh. I don’t care whose sons you are, Fisher Enterprise doesn’t support idle people! We don’t tolerate freeloaders!”
“CEO Fisher, these tasks were always handled by others before. We rarely did this kind of work. Even when we did, our mother would guide us. Now you’ve fired our secretaries and expect us to do everything ourselves.
“How are we supposed to manage? We’re executives. It’s enough for executives to just know how to delegate tasks and manage their subordinates.”
As soon as Liberty took over Fisher Enterprise, she let go of the three brothers’ personal secretaries. Many tasks that were previously handled by their subordinates now had to be done by the brothers themselves.
To be honest, even if they were serious about it, they would not do a good job, much less when they were not. They were used to delegating and had always relied on others to do the work for them.
After all, they were vice presidents and the sons of the previous head of the company.
When Celine was alive and was the heir apparent, they, as her brothers, had free rein in the company. No one dared to say anything.
Thinking back to those years, the three brothers, like Celine, had been able to do whatever they wanted. Many managers buttered them up. Even when they went out to negotiate business deals, clients would show them respect and were willing to work with Fisher Enterprise.
When did they start to lose their influence and become irrelevant to the company? The lackeys who once surrounded them had either been fired or transferred to other subsidiary companies.
It all started when Caroline began to rise in the company.
Before, they had always thought Caroline was just a useless and weak country bumpkin. Even when Caroline achieved results, they believed it was due to Darren’s help.
It was not until they noticed their mother relying more and more on Caroline, and the senior management showing increasing respect toward her, that they realized the truth.
Caroline had deceived them. She was a wolf in sheep’s clothing, pretending to be useless while quietly undermining their authority bit by bit.
Unfortunately, they realized it too late. By then, their mother’s favor had already shifted heavily toward Caroline and she saw Caroline as the true successor.
In the company, they were now just waiting to be put out to pasture.
After their mother passed away, their situation in the company became even worse. Thus, the three brothers openly gave up, showing up at the company just to make an appearance before leaving.
Other times, they would just play games in the office, since they could still collect their salaries anyway.
Caroline had caught them several times and issued stern warnings, but they did not take it to heart.
Now that Liberty was in charge, she was making an example of them.
