From the moment I entered the gala, only two people had approached me—Ethan, who had walked arm-in-arm with me, and the server who had just delivered something.
The necklace looked expensive, easily worth more than 50 thousand dollars. It was obvious someone was trying to frame me for theft and humiliate me in front of everyone.
I didn't touch it. I took my bag and returned to Ethan's side.
"The charity gala is about to start. Let's take our seats," he said, draping an arm around me. He instinctively reached for my bag, but I shifted aside, avoiding his hand.
It wasn't him. He had no motive for this, not while I still carried the title of Mrs. Doyle.
