Chapter 273
Lily was startled by Loid's sudden advancement. She had seen his body before, but that was before they were official. She didn't have any feelings toward him then.
Presently, his slow but demanding kisses were driving her crazy.
"Loid, there's something wrong with my phone. Can I use your phone to call my mom?"
The interruption cleared Loid's head instantly. Panic flooded him as he looked at Lily. The last thing he wanted was for her to get the wrong idea. "Sorry, I…"
Before he could finish his sentence, Lily wrapped her arms around his neck.
He froze, and his throat was dry as he whispered, "S-Stop fooling around…"
Lily paused. She looked at him with mild amusement as she drawled, "You might not get so lucky next time."
Loid's expression stiffened when he heard this. The next second, he growled. "I'll have to punish you for speaking to me like that."
Outside the bedroom, Yolanda stomped her foot in anger. Resentment filled her as she cursed inwardly.
Loid was hers!
Her fists clenched as an icy gleam flashed in her eyes. She would make Lily pay for this!
…
The next day, Shaun and Daniel showed up at Amner Heights around noon.
Loid was wearing pajamas when he came downstairs to greet them.
Seeing this, Shaun bolted upright from the couch and cursed, "Damn, Loid. Don't tell me you just woke up!"
Loid shot him a withering look, but it was one laced with meaning as he demanded, "I wasn't expecting you to be back."
Shaun cringed under Loid's frosty gaze. He quickly explained, "Ken's back, so I had him keep an eye on the Hutchinsons and came back to help you… You know what, I'll come back later."
He wasn't so oblivious that he couldn't tell Loid was angry.
He bet Lily was embarrassed to have called Loid weak before. Right now, there was nothing weak about Loid. He was, for lack of a better description, full of vigor.
However, Shaun wisely kept his mouth shut and dared not aggravate Loid's temper. He and Daniel had shown up at the wrong time. He could only imagine how furious Loid was to have been interrupted by them.
Shaun was about to skedaddle when Lily suddenly said, "Stay for lunch. I'm hungry."
She appeared to be in a good mood today. She even looked happy.
Loid brightened up when he saw how happy Lily looked. He stroked her hair affectionately and said, "Eat up and get some rest later."
Lunch was a tense affair for Shaun and Daniel.
After the meal, Shaun was about to make a run for it when Loid hauled him back by the collar. "You have dishes to do."
"I'm sorry, Loid!" Shaun gave him a look of despair. "Come on, cut me some slack. If word got out that the scion of the Knight family was made into a scullery maid, I'd die of embarrassment!"
"Is that a no?" Loid released him and sauntered to the couch. He drawled, "In that case, you can swap places with Ken—"
"I'll make sure those dishes are sparkling clean!" Shaun bolted into the kitchen to do the dreaded chore before Loid finished his sentence.
He could not stomach the idea of staying in Bridgeport another day.
With nothing to entertain him save for his phone, Shaun was forced to watch the Hutchinsons all day while he was stationed in Bridgeport. He couldn't go anywhere either. At some point, he was sure he would die from boredom.
The last thing Shaun wanted was to return to Bridgeport, especially now that Ken was finally back and taking over spying duties.
Still, he didn't think it was right for Loid to lash out at him like this. He had unintentionally interrupted Loid's bedroom fun, but that didn't mean he deserved punishment.
As it turned out, Loid was more persnickety than he thought.
