Alexander lifted his hand and pressed it against the shelf, trapping Blair within the confines of his arms.
He lowered his head, leaning close to her cheek. His gaze met her almond-shaped eyes, sensing the wariness beneath.
It was just before midnight. The night outside was dark—but not as deep as the shadows lurking in Alexander's own eyes.
