Chapter 183 Yvette Really Returned for Me
I wasn't like Yvette, who didn't dare to own up to what she had done. If I wanted to treat Lila well, I would do it openly. This time, my main purpose was to meet the production team.
I planned to sponsor Lila's program so that the program could continue. It was her dream, and I needed to make it a reality.
Naturally, I had to meet up with Lila. It was just that I hadn't figured out how to deal with the extra emotional complications she had.
Expressionlessly, Yvette said, "Lila is interested in you. I know you've been helping her out with this matter. If you see her later, she may confess her love to you."
I didn't stop walking, but my heart became heavy. I clenched my suitcase tightly with a sneer. "I've already gotten a divorce. Both of us are free now. If she actually confesses her love to me, it's understandable and legal. I'm happy to receive a love confession. After all, it means that I'm still charming."
Yvette's expression darkened. Her voice was cold, as if her anger was about to explode. "Owen, let me remind you that we only got a divorce several days ago. Aren't you being too much for starting a new relationship so quickly?"
Why couldn't she just let me go? How baffling. Besides, didn't she start a new relationship immediately too?
I couldn't help but become enraged. "Why are you so controlling? Even if she confesses her love to me, even if I get married again, it's none of your business."
Then, I quickened my pace. However, Yvette seemed to have hit a nerve. She grabbed my hand and pulled me closer to her.
Her grip on my hand was so tight that it was painful. I couldn't help but roar, "Yvette, are you crazy?"
Her expression was ghastly as she grabbed my collar. "You're the one who's crazy. Don't forget that I have marked your body. The mark I left on your body is still there. How dare you talk about marrying Lila? Owen, don't you feel embarrassed?"
I was stunned for at least ten seconds. When I returned to my senses, I slapped Yvette out of anger.
In the past, I only thought that she was ruthless because she was willing to put everything aside for Randall. At that time, I didn't want a divorce. Since I was blocking her way, I deserved to be treated that way.
In this life, I didn't do anything that hurt Yvette. I didn't stop her from pursuing handsome men either. When Lila suddenly faced an unexpected mishap, I had no choice but to seek Yvette's help.
It wasn't like I took advantage of her for nothing. She was the one who only wanted my body, and I agreed. I never expected it to become something she would use to humiliate me.
A handprint soon appeared on Yvette's face. Her gaze was terrifying, but when she looked at me, she calmed down. "I'm not belittling you. I just think that if you marry again so quickly…"
My eyes turned red from anger for the first time. I was so enraged that I didn't want to say anything or listen to her nonsense. I turned around and continued to walk out of the venue with my suitcase.
"Owen, wait!" Yvette shouted behind me, but I didn't plan to stop. I kept walking until she suddenly yanked my arm, forcing me to stop.
I turned around and yelled angrily, "Yvette, meeting you is the worst luck of my life! You tormented me when I held onto you. Now that I'm letting you go, you still torment me. Are you deliberately trying to make my life miserable?"
In my previous life, she let me down. By all accounts, the tables should have turned by now. It should be my turn to make her suffer. So, why was I still the one being pushed around?
Yvette suddenly pounced on me like a leopard, wrapping her arms tightly around me. "Owen…"
I was just about to listen to what she had to say when she frowned. She let go of me in pain and clutched her head. "Owen, my head hurts…"
Was she still trying to pull this act on me? I didn't even touch her head!
"Your head hurts? Isn't Randall a doctor? Why don't you let him check your head? Yvette, I sincerely hope we never see each other again."
This time, I walked away decisively, and Yvette didn't chase after me. When I reached the street, I immediately spotted Oliver leaning against a black sedan.
When he saw me, he waved at me enthusiastically.
"Mr. Yates," he greeted, glancing behind me. "Where's Ms. Jenning? Why didn't she come out? Did you not run into her?"
I reached out to hail a taxi. My expression was dark, and I didn't respond.
At that, Oliver panicked. "Mr. Yates, are you leaving? Ms. Jenning heard you got into an argument with someone, so she took an early flight back to find you. She just landed. If you aren't in a rush, could you wait a bit? I'll call her and have her come out."
I frowned and finally spoke to Oliver. "Early flight?"
Oliver pulled out his phone to make a call. "That's right. Ms. Jenning has been insanely busy these past couple of days.
"She has even been skipping hospital visits for her headaches. When she heard you got hit, she wanted to take a private jet back last night, but the weather was bad. So, she had to wait until this morning."
Was Yvette really on a business trip? So, she didn't lie to me and even rushed back on an early flight for me.
A flood of questions filled my head. This didn't make sense. Was Randall's roommate lying, or did Randall have other admirers besides Yvette? Were the things he said yesterday just out of spite? Could what Yvette said earlier actually be true?
The moment that thought crossed my mind, I dismissed it immediately. Whatever the truth was, it no longer mattered. The outcome between Yvette and me was decided a long time ago. Staying away from each other was the best choice.
When the taxi stopped in front of me, I grabbed my suitcase and got in. Oliver was practically stomping anxiously. "Mr. Yates, please wait a moment. Ms. Jenning will be out any second."
