Chapter 12 - The planned accident
"Justin, you're sure isn't a bit too much?" Emily asked, looking at her mirror again, probably for the 18th time since she left the house. This made Justin laugh
"It's pretty ok if you ask me tho. Probably, the texture is quite tough. That's why you'll feel it's a bit much." He replied.
Emily sighed. "If you say so, how many minutes more left till we get to the client's house?." She asked.
"We'll be there in about 25 minutes Miss Emily."
"Alright, alright."
Emily settled into the backseat of her car, her driver navigated the busy streets. She pulled out her phone and dialed a number, waiting for her friends to answer.
"Hey, guys!" Selena's voice chimed in, followed by Chloe and Vivian's hellos.
Emily grinned, feeling a rush of excitement. She loved catching up with her friends.
"So, what's new with you guys?" she asked.
Vivian giggled. "Well, I have some juicy gossip to share."
Chloe's voice piped up. "Ooh, do tell!"
Vivian took a deep breath. "Okay, so I went on a date with this guy last night...
Selena squealed. "How was it? Was he cute?"
Vivian laughed. " Woah, calm down. He was adorable! And the date was actually really fun. We went to this new restaurant downtown and had the best food ever."
Emily's eyes widened. "That sounds amazing! What's his name?"
"His name is Ryan," Vivian replied. "And he's actually really sweet. We talked for hours, and I felt like I'd known him forever."
Chloe's voice turned serious. "Someone is falling in love, uh? Did you guys kiss?"
Vivian's giggle was infectious. "Maybe....
The girls all squealed and started teasing Vivian.
"So after the dinner date, then....go on tell us more." Selena urged.
"Then we went to his apartment... he's quite stable financially."
"Very important," Chloe said.
"And.....go on go on. You know what we want to hear."
Emilia laughed knowing what Selena was after.
"The sex was great. I mean he made me scream multiple times." Vivian finally let out.
"You have my permission, you can now marry." Selena said which made everyone laugh.
" So sex is important uh before getting uh?" Emily asked.
"Of course it is, sex is for both persons to enjoy not just one person." Selena added "lol, I can't marry a man that pleasure himself but can't attend to my needs, that's a toxic shit."
As they continued to talk, Emily became absent minded, Alex was yet to give her any pleasure. Most of the times, she just laid down there.
"Emily?....E, mily?" Vivian called out when she noticed Emily was absent minded. "You're alright?"
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine" she assured them. "Just thinking of what designs to present to my client." She lied.
"Well, ok where were we.."
As Emily continued to chat with her friends on the phone, the traffic light in front of them turned from red to amber, and then finally to green. The driver, Justin, sensing the change in the light, stepped on the gas pedal, and the car began to move forward.
But before they could even get halfway through the intersection, a loud crash echoed through the air.
"Ah!!!!" Wailed Emily
A heavy truck had come out of nowhere and slammed into the side of Emily's car.
The impact was immense, and the car was sent spinning out of control. Emily's phone flew out of her hand, and she was thrown against the door, her head hitting the window with a loud thud.
The car kept turning and turning, spinning around in a circle like a top. Emily's vision began to blur, and she felt herself losing consciousness.
Justin, the driver, was manageably awake, but he was dazed and disoriented. He struggled to free himself from the wreckage, shouting
"Miss Emily! Miss Emily!" as he tried to reach his unconscious mistress.
The car finally came to a stop, but Justin's cries for help continued to echo through the air. Emily lay motionless, her body twisted at an awkward angle, her head bleeding from a deep gash.
Justin's voice grew hoarse as he continued to shout for help, hoping against hope that someone would hear him and come to their rescue. Just when he thought his cries would go unheard, the sound of sirens pierced the air.
The ambulance was coming!
Justin's heart leapt with relief as he heard the ambulance getting closer and closer. He shouted again, this time with renewed hope,
"Help! Over here! Miss Emily is hurt!"
The ambulance screeched to a halt beside the wreckage, and paramedics rushed out to assist Justin and Emily. One of the paramedics, a kind-faced woman, rushed over to Emily's side and began to assess her injuries.
"Don't worry, we've got her," the paramedic said to Justin, who was still trying to free himself from the wreckage. "Can you tell me what happened?"
Justin took a deep breath, trying to calm down. "We were driving, and then...and then a truck hit us. Miss Emily was on the phone, and then...I don't know, everything just happened so fast."
The paramedic nodded sympathetically. "Okay, we're going to get you both out of here and to the hospital. Just hang in there, okay?"
The ambulance screeched to a halt outside the hospital emergency room, and the paramedics quickly jumped out to unload Emily's stretcher. Justin, still shaken, followed closely behind, shouting
"Doctor! Doctor! Emergency!" as they rushed through the sliding glass doors.
A nurse, dressed in crisp white scrubs, hurried over to assist the paramedics. "We need to get her into a room, stat!" she exclaimed, her eyes scanning Emily's pale face.
As they wheeled Emily's stretcher down the hallway, Justin continued to shout for a doctor, his voice hoarse from panic. The nurse turned to him, concern etched on her face.
"Sir, you need to calm down. You're going to hurt yourself."
Justin's eyes were wild, his face flushed with worry. "I don't care about me! Just save Emily!" he begged, his voice cracking with emotion.
The nurse nodded sympathetically. "We'll do everything we can, I promise. But you need to let us take care of you too. You're injured."
Justin looked down at himself, noticing for the first time the cuts and bruises on his arms and face. He nodded slowly, allowing the nurse to lead him to a nearby chair.
Meanwhile, Emily's stretcher was wheeled into a crowded emergency room. She was vaguely aware of the beeping machines and the murmur of voices around her. Her vision was blurry, but she could make out Justin's panicked face hovering above hers.
"J-Justin?" she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.
Justin's face masked with worry. "Emily, oh my god, I was so scared! Don't try to talk, just rest."
Emily's eyes fluttered closed, and she felt herself drifting away. She thought to herself,
"Is this how it ends? Is this how I die?" But before she could dwell on those thoughts, everything went black.
