Chapter 1126
Upon hearing Rickard's words, Keith felt somewhat embarrassed.
He rubbed his head and said, "There's a saying that goes 'cheap things are not good.' This medicine is meant to save lives. Other families' elders might still have some time left, so they thought of giving it a try. However, our family might only have this one chance. So, I sent someone to get medicine from the Mustafas while I came here to buy the medicine I had previously ordered. What if one of them proves to be effective?"
Rickard remained expressionless as he nodded. Then, he continued, "If possible, could you show my wife the medicine you got from the Mustafas?"
"About that…" Keith hesitated. Ranfik might turn a blind eye if he found out that he came to buy the medicine from the Savatiers. However, if Ranfik learned that he had given the medicine to Hesper and disclosed the formula to her, it could lead to significant trouble. After all, he wasn't prepared to provoke the Mustafas at this point.
Just as Keith was pondering over his decision, Hesper's voice rang out in the distance. "If you take both medicines, it may cause drug interactions."
Everyone turned their head around and when they saw Sherese walking beside Hesper, understanding instantly dawned upon them.
"Ms. Rivera, what do you mean by this?" Keith turned to look at Hesper.
"Even if you haven't studied medicine, I assume you understand the potential risks of combining different medications. Drug interactions can be extremely harmful to a patient. If you haphazardly mix medicines from both the Savatiers and Mustafas, there's a possibility of adverse reactions, and…"
Someone could die.
Hesper left her sentence unfinished, but Keith grasped the implication, and his complexion grew paler.
Although Hesper might be deceiving him to find out the ingredients of the Mustafas' medicine, he could not afford the risk. What if there were indeed conflicting components in the medicines, and he ended up causing his father's death?
"Mr. Cadis, I'm not trying to force you, but I believe you understand the situation," Hesper said, observing Keith's expression and sensing that he had already made a decision.
She then turned to the young members of the Savatiers and said, "We won't accept Mr. Cadis's payment for the medicine. Consider it a gesture of goodwill on my part."
Keith sighed and said, "Very well, after I get back home, I'll bring a portion of the Mustafas' medicine to you. By the way, Ms. Rivera... is your medicine truly as remarkable as you claim?"
In response to Keith's question, Hesper nodded with unwavering certainty. "I assure you. If you can trust me, Mr. Cadis, then for now, please refrain from taking the Mustafas' medicine. Just give it three days, and you'll know whether I've exaggerated or not."
Upon hearing Heser's confidence, a glimmer of hope appeared on Keith's face. "Alright, I will trust you, Ms. Rivera."
A subtle smile graced Hesper's lips as she observed the young members of the Savatiers guiding Keith back to his home. When he returned with the Mustafas' medicine, she let out a relieved sigh.
"I already guessed it," Hesper whispered as she approached Rickard. "On the way back, Zoya informed me that Nathaniel assisted Julian's escape from prison some time ago and then disappeared. I figured they might have come to Leafdelle Island."
Being on Leafdelle Island made her feel disconnected from the outside world, and Hesper had not paid much attention to things happening outside of the island for a long time, causing her to put Nathaniel at the back of her mind.
"Nathaniel has formed an alliance with Charles," Rickard said. Hesper froze for a moment but then shrugged it off nonchalantly.
