Chapter 124: Pushing Him to Another

Katrina's face froze as she awkwardly glanced at the man filled with anger who just sat beside her. "I... I was thinking about your future too," she stammered. Daniel felt like his lungs were about to explode with rage. He had passed by this restaurant earlier, seeing Katrina and Luna inside, and thought Katrina came to show off to Luna out of jealousy. But when he came in and listened, he understood. She was leaving him and encouraging Luna to be with him. "Is this how badly you want to leave me?" Daniel's eyes reddened as he stared at Katrina. Seeing Luna also looking expectantly at him, Katrina reluctantly replied, "Yes, I'm tired of playing. Though you're rich, you won't marry me in the future. Being a wife to a rich man, I can get some benefits, but being just a lover to a rich man is boring." Daniel felt like he could hear the sound of his heart shattering. Both Luna and Katrina felt heartbroken for him. After a moment, Daniel's voice trembled uncontrollably, "Since that's how it is, let's break up. I'll move out today, consider the villa as my compensation for staying with me." Katrina's heart skipped a beat. "No need, young master. I'll move back home." Daniel's tone was indifferent, "As you wish." Katrina hmphed and stood up, saying to Luna, "Since there's nothing else, I won't linger. You two enjoy your meal. I'll go back and pack." After saying that, Katrina was about to leave but heard footsteps behind her. "I'll drive you," Daniel said imperiously without waiting for Katrina's acceptance or refusal, simply commanding his driver to take her home. On the way back, Daniel drove recklessly, seeming like he didn't care about his life. Katrina held onto her seatbelt tightly, fearing she might be thrown out of the car at any moment. The car soon stopped at the villa. Daniel got out and walked inside without looking back, contrary to his usual gentlemanly behavior of helping Katrina out of the car and shielding her from hitting her head on the doorframe. But this time, he simply went straight to his room without a word. Katrina followed closely. Since she hadn't taken out her stuff from the boxes packed a few days ago, she quickly packed and left without any obstruction this time. Driving her own car home, Elaine thought Katrina and Daniel had another argument when she saw Katrina carrying her luggage. "Elaine, Daniel and I broke up. It's over for us," Katrina said, a tear slipping from her eye. She thought she wouldn't feel anything, that she would leave easily. But all the way home, she couldn't help but imagine Daniel coming to chase after her and coax her back. She felt like she was poisoned by Daniel. Seeing Katrina's distress, Elaine felt like she was seeing her past self. She stepped forward to embrace her friend, unable to find the words to comfort her. Fortunately, Katrina recovered much faster than Elaine. She only felt down for a while and then went to prepare dinner for Katrina and her brother. Katrina's house had two rooms. Both Katrina and Elaine lived there, so they had to squeeze into one room. During dinner, someone turned on the television. On the news channel, Wesley appeared with a lovely girl on the screen. The subtitles read: "The Howard family is about to have a joyous occasion. Wesley, the head of the family, will be engaged to Miss Bella from the Casey family on the 16th of this month." Seeing this, Elaine almost dropped her utensils. It turned out that Berta's words were true. Wesley was really getting married this time. Just as this news ended, another 'good news' appeared. Also from the Howard family. The next picture showed Daniel and Luna coming out of the banquet hall together. The woman wore a black evening dress, perfectly showcasing her curvy figure, draped with a large suit jacket over her shoulders. Beside her, Daniel wore black trousers and a white shirt with two buttons undone at the collar, looking particularly sexy. "These two brothers are really something," she said bitterly. Elaine smiled bitterly, taking a while before saying a complete sentence, "We were never meant to be together. From the start, it was wrong between us." Katrina deflated, starting to blame herself for why she had to provoke Daniel in the first place. The dinner was a gloomy affair for everyone. After dinner, Katrina suggested going out for a drink. She needed alcohol to numb herself. Elaine wasn't good with alcohol, but seeing how genuinely distressed Katrina was, she couldn't refuse. The two went to the largest bar in the city center, and Katrina ordered a glass of strong whisky. "I won't drink, so I can drive you back later," Elaine said. Katrina nodded repeatedly, "I don't know what I'd do without you." After a few drinks, Katrina seemed drunk. She started to babble, "Elaine, if only you were a guy. No, if only I were a guy, then I could marry you, and we'd stay away from those scumbags." Elaine echoed her sentiment, "Yes, yes, yes." Drinking too fast, Katrina suddenly felt the urge to pee. She said a quick hello to Elaine and rushed into the restroom. When she came out, she felt like she was hallucinating from the alcohol. Otherwise, how could she see Daniel here? He hadn't been to such a place in a long time. "You scumbag," Katrina couldn't help but mutter. Daniel didn't expect to see Katrina here either. It seemed she really wanted to leave him and came to the bar to celebrate. "Katrina," Daniel called out to her, asking, "Were you just cursing at me?" Surprisingly, it was really Daniel. Katrina nodded in response to his question, admitting her actions without hesitation. This left Daniel at a loss for words. At that moment, a man walked over to Daniel and said, "Why haven't you gone back yet? Your girlfriend is worried sick. She specifically asked me to find you, afraid you'd be lost outside." Hearing this, Katrina looked at Daniel incredulously, unable to hide the sadness in her eyes. Unfortunately, the bar was too dimly lit, and Daniel couldn't see Katrina's expression clearly from where he stood.
