Chapter 147 Changes of Weisley
Weisley begged Elaine meekly, "Elaine, please don't do this to me, I'm begging you."
Elaine turned away, not wanting to see Weisley like this.
Weisley felt heartbroken by Elaine's actions. He could only take a step back and say, "I'm afraid the Howard family will come to disturb you again. Let me stay here to protect you for a few days, okay?"
Elaine was speechless. "Weisley, I don't need you. You still have a fiancée in New York. What are you doing here?"
She really couldn't understand what Weisley was up to.
Are both of them doing okay on their own?
Weisley hurriedly explained, "Before coming here, I broke off the engagement with her. I have thought about it seriously, Elaine. Besides you, I can't marry anyone else."
Elaine was surprised that Weisley could go this far. She said, "But Weisley, I don't want to marry you anymore. I don't care who you marry."
"I know, that's why you took Beta's business. Getting married to Bella or anyone else doesn't matter to you anymore," Weisley said sadly.
Elaine nodded. "Exactly. Since you understand, please leave soon. I don't need you anymore. My husband will come to accompany me soon. You being here only makes things awkward."
This time Weisley didn't insist. He smiled stiffly at Elaine and said, "I understand. I wish you happiness, Elaine. Whenever you need me, I'll be there."
With that, Weisley turned and left.
Elaine seemed somewhat incredulous, as if she hadn't expected Weisley to really leave.
Weisley returned to his car and ordered his subordinates to investigate if Charlotte was on her way to Hua Country. The result came back:
"Charlotte is currently in New York attending an event and seems to be unaware of Elaine's disappearance."
"Weisley, oh Weisley, what am I going to do with you?" Weisley sighed.
After a simple meal, Weisley rented a house near Elaine's place.
He was afraid that Elaine would be bullied by strangers here alone.
As expected, things went just as Weisley had anticipated. That night, as he walked towards the beach, he saw a man struggling with Elaine.
The man held a bottle of alcohol in one hand, clearly drunk.
Weisley rushed over, but he was too late. Elaine was pushed to the ground by the man because of their vast difference in strength.
After rushing over, Weisley punched the man on his nose, causing blood to gush out instantly.
He was ready to beat the man severely, but Elaine, beside him, pleaded, "Weisley, stop it, take me to the hospital."
Only then did Weisley notice that Elaine was still sitting on the ground.
He hurried over, trying to help Elaine up. "Are you okay? Where are you hurt?"
From the scenes he had just witnessed, Weisley thought Elaine shouldn't have any major injuries.
But Elaine's expression was filled with pain. Could she have been hurt somewhere else?
Elaine touched her abdomen, crying, "Take me to the hospital, save my child."
Weisley was stunned by her words. So their child was still there.
He quickly picked up Elaine and put her in the car, then drove swiftly to the nearest hospital.
All the way, Weisley reproached himself, "Why didn't you tell me, Elaine? Why didn't you let me protect you?"
Elaine said, "You should have kept your distance from me. Maybe both me and the child wouldn't have been hurt."
After all, if it weren't for Weisley, those people wouldn't have targeted her and the child.
"You know I didn't want this. It's hard for me to see you and the child in trouble," Weisley said, tears flowing involuntarily.
Elaine hesitated, wanting to reach out and wipe his tears, but ultimately gave up.
"So I didn't seek revenge on you, I just distanced myself from you," Elaine continued. "Besides, I didn't see where you were in pain. Aren't you about to marry Casey's daughter? What a wonderful future you have."
"But what about me? I only have this child. Neither of you can be spared," Elaine said.
"Marrying her was never my intention. It's unfair to me, Elaine. You can't treat me like this," Weisley pleaded again.
"Unfair?" Elaine laughed. "When have you ever been fair to me?"
"When I was bullied by Hannah and your sister, how did you treat me? Weisley, your memory can't be that bad," Elaine asked.
Weisley's voice was low, "I thought I was protecting you, it was all my self-righteousness, Elaine..."
Elaine didn't want to hear him anymore. She interrupted him, saying, "Shut your mouth, I want some quiet."
Weisley obediently shut his mouth, occasionally glancing at Elaine in the rearview mirror.
He drove the car fast and steady, and soon arrived at the hospital entrance.
But Weisley forgot that this wasn't New York. No one would give Elaine special treatment because of him.
So he queued up with Elaine all the way, underwent examinations, which took a long time.
Seeing Elaine in pain, Weisley felt extremely sorry. How he wished he could share her pain.
Fortunately, the test results were good, and Elaine's child was safe.
Upon hearing this news, Elaine felt a lot better instantly. It turned out that the pain she had felt earlier was intensified by her nervousness.
Weisley was also delighted to hear this news. His child was safe, and he would become a father soon.
After leaving the hospital, Weisley drove Elaine directly to his house.
Elaine refused to get out of the car. "What do you mean by this? I have my own place to stay."
Ignoring her, Weisley asked, "What if something like today happens again? This time was lucky, but what about next time?"
Feeling guilty, Elaine muttered, "What does it have to do with you?"
Weisley smiled helplessly, "My child, how can it have nothing to do with me? As his father, shouldn't I take care of him and his mother?"
Elaine stubbornly retorted, "I've said this child is not yours. Can't you stop daydreaming? Besides you, can't I have another man?"
Not waiting for Elaine to get out of the car, Weisley simply lifted her out and took her to his newly rented house.
"Then let that man come pick you up from here, and I'll let you go."
Elaine fell silent. Who could she bother to come and accompany her in this boring play?
