Chapter 146: Unable to Find Elaine
Bella had actually guessed it long ago. Wesley's constant rejection and deliberate distance made her feel like there was someone else in his heart.
What she didn't know was that the person was none other than Nora, the woman he had collaborated with before.
At this moment, 'Nora' had already taken a car to another city.
In Elaine's eyes, Wesley was just feeling guilty now, so he did those things that didn't fit his image.
She didn't want to entangle with him anymore. Every time they got close, it brought a series of bad things, and she couldn't handle it anymore.
Maybe they were really not suitable for each other, even meeting would bring disaster.
It would be better if they never saw each other again, good for both of them.
Unfortunately, only Elaine had such thoughts. Wesley was now full of thoughts of making amends with her.
When Bella arrived at her new address, she finally told Katrina about her experiences during this time.
She sent her current address to Katrina and told her everything was okay.
On Katrina's side, she just received a message from Elaine, and the next second, Daniel received a call from Wesley.
"Has Elaine contacted Katrina? Do you know where she is now?" Wesley asked Daniel directly this time.
Daniel had been with Katrina when she was talking to Elaine on the phone, so he heard the location very clearly.
He was a little conflicted. If he told his brother the address, Katrina would definitely be angry with him.
However, his brother had already gone this far for Elaine, so he wanted to help him no matter what.
"Brother, I'll tell you, but don't betray me, okay?" Daniel didn't want others' affairs to affect his relationship with Katrina, so he reminded Wesley.
Wesley immediately assured him, "Don't worry, I won't say anything."
Upon receiving the information, Wesley set off immediately and arrived at the house where Elaine was staying that afternoon.
It was a small wooden house by the seaside, with a beautiful view. Wesley remembered a long time ago, Elaine told him she loved the sea.
If there was a chance, she wanted him to take her to live in a house by the sea for a while.
How could he have been so heartless to refuse her then? He told her not to daydream too much and to keep her role as a lover in check.
Thinking of this, Wesley's heart ached again.
What a bastard he was!
Just then, a woman in a white dress walked out of the room. She swayed to the beach and lay down on the rocking chair, basking in the sun comfortably, looking extremely content.
It felt like she was telling everyone that she could be happy all by herself, that she didn't need anyone.
Tears welled up in Wesley's eyes.
No! He couldn't allow this! He had to be with her, she needed him.
But as he realized his thoughts, Wesley cursed himself again. Where was he when she needed him?
When she was bullied by the Howard family, where was he?
Admit it, Elaine doesn't need you anymore.
There was a little voice in Wesley's head, harshly scolding him for his past inaction.
Feeling a shadow fall over her face, as if something blocked the sunlight, Elaine slowly opened her eyes.
Seeing Wesley's face at that moment, Elaine felt like her brain was about to shrink.
How did he know she was here? How did he find her?
Katrina couldn't have betrayed her!
Elaine immediately sat up, her wary eyes fixed on Wesley, as if she had seen a ghost.
Wesley felt a little nervous at Elaine's reaction. He was afraid of scaring her, but it seemed like he already did.
"Don't be afraid, Elaine. I just want to talk to you and then I'll leave. I won't bother you anymore," Wesley choked out.
Elaine stared at Wesley, silent.
Wesley took a step back, trying to create some distance between them, to make her feel more relaxed.
"I just want to tell you, I'm sorry for hurting your child. Even though I didn't order it, it happened because of me. I'm sorry."
"And, I was a jerk back then, doing things that hurt you. It wasn't intentional, but I did hurt you. I won't make excuses, I'm sorry, Elaine."
"All the suffering you've experienced over the years, most of it was caused by me. I know I can't make up for it no matter what, but I owe you an apology, I'm sorry."
"I'm not asking for your forgiveness, it's only natural for you to hate me, there's no problem with that."
"Finally, I want to say something from my heart. Since the day I met you, I've liked you a lot. Every day I spend with you, I'm happy."
"Besides you, I haven't liked any other woman, let alone touched any other woman. I don't lie about these things, you know."
"Even now, I still deeply love you, but maybe you stopped loving me long ago."
At this, disappointment crossed Wesley's face.
"But it's all my fault, I'm not blaming you for anything, Elaine..."
Elaine raised her hand to interrupt Wesley, her tone cold, "What right do you have to blame me? What's your purpose in telling me all this? You know I hate you, so why do you insist on getting close to me?"
Wesley lowered his head, "Because I like you, I love you, so I can't help but want to be close to you."
Elaine laughed, meeting Wesley's eyes
, and said coldly, "But I don't like you anymore, Wesley. When you trampled on my love for you like garbage, I took it back."
Wesley didn't want to hear such harsh words, but he had to listen. He said, "I'll accept whatever you give me. I don't expect to be with you again, I just hope you won't drive me away, okay?"
"I promise not to disturb your life, just let me silently protect you, okay?"
Elaine had never seen Wesley like this before, so submissive in front of her, she didn't want to see him like this.
She made up her mind and said coldly, "You just make me feel disgusted by doing this."
Wesley trembled, feeling defeated by her words.
"Even if I marry another man and have children here, living a sweet and happy life, will you still stay here and watch over me?" Elaine asked.
