Chapter 471
Joshua already knew what was happening when he saw Wayne run a hand through his hair irritably. "Wayne."
"Hmm?" Wayne looked up.
"You're dead meat." Joshua looked at him seriously. "You're in love."
This scared Wayne. His expression turned into one of terror and panic, which Andy saw as he approached them.
"What's going on, dude? What are you guys talking about to make you look so terrified?" Andy was already tipsy; he'd had too much to drink because he was so happy. He put an arm around Wayne's shoulder as he sat down.
"We were just chatting. You, on the other hand, are abnormally happy today. Anyone who wasn't in the know would think you're almost engaged," Wayne teased.
Andy leaned closer at that. "I'll be frank—I insisted on coming to Espenia to handle the new branch company because of Yasmin. Just wait. I'll be inviting you guys to my wedding soon enough!"
"That's probably going to take a while." Joshua glanced at Yasmin, who sat across from him.
Her seat was beside Andy's, but she hadn't spoken much throughout the night. She hadn't stopped Andy from expressing his concern toward her, though.
Everyone at the table, including Andy, could tell her attention was on Joshua. Still, Andy didn't care. He loved her too much. As long as she was willing to try to forget Joshua and accept him, he was confident he could one day replace Joshua's spot in her heart.
As they spoke, Joshua's phone pinged. It was a message from Queenie. Wayne and Andy surreptitiously leaned closer to see what she'd sent.
Wayne wanted to see whether there would be another video of Joanne, while Andy was purely curious to see how Joshua flirted.
Joshua generously allowed them to peek. He didn't shy away from them as he texted Queenie. "You look like you're having fun, but don't go over the top. Don't forget what you promised me this morning."
Andy couldn't help feeling curious when he saw that. "Why don't you teach us some of your skills, Joshua? It looks like you and your wife are getting along really well. How does a cold, heartless man like yourself make a cutie pie like Queenie not fear you?"
"Being sincere is the key." Joshua wasn't wrong to say that. He'd always been sincere and earnest toward Queenie… except for the truth about his family. He wasn't hiding anything else from her.
"I'm sincere, too. That didn't stop Yasmin from ignoring me." Andy couldn't understand it. His feelings for Yasmin were genuine. Did that not mean anything to her?
Wayne was also frustrated when he heard this. He genuinely wanted to befriend Joanne, yet she'd used and betrayed him. She knew what a piece of work Lori was, yet she'd still used him as leverage against her. His sincerity hadn't won him even a smidgeon of Joanne's trust.
"You have to meet the right person for it to work." Joshua would've been better off not saying anything.
"All you're saying is that you're luckier than us all because you mistakenly married the right person!" Andy snapped. Joshua had to be the champion of humble bragging. He could tell now that the latter was just trying to show off.
Joshua didn't deny it. He laughed almost arrogantly and looked at Wayne and Andy disdainfully. If not for other people being present, Andy would've punched him.
Joshua said, "You two should be ashamed if you can't even win the hearts of the women you're interested in."
