Chapter 265
Due to the matter relating to Belinda, on the following day, Victoria called Steward for a meet-up.
Café.
Victoria held a cup of tea, gently blowing its warming steam with a lovely Russian Blue cat obediently sitting on her lap.
When Steward arrived, he sat down across from Victoria.
Patting the cat, Victoria elegantly took a sip of her tea. Setting down her cup, she said, "Your taste in women is deteriorating."
As she spoke, her gaze fell upon Steward's face.
Looking haggard and unshaven, Victoria frowned.
"Is this how you appear before me?"
Steward seemed very tired, "Mom, just spit out what you want to say."
"That little starlet who claims to be carrying your child, I plan to give her some money."
Steward raised his brows, "Give her money?"
Victoria said, "Do you intend to keep that child? I would never allow such a woman of no class and loose behaviour to give birth to a child for the Brown family."
"I know."
Victoria was all strong-willed.
Steward knew her too well. If she didn’t even approve of Harper, Belinda definitely stood no chance.
"I don't want the kid, and you are not allowed to give money."
Steward said coldly.
Victoria cast a brief glance at him, understanding his thoughts, "Is it because of her that you broke up with Harper?"
Steward pursed his lips, a look of deep misery in his eyes.
Victoria chuckled lightly as she stroked the blue cat in her hands, "It's better this way. You two aren't from the same world. It's better not to waste her time. In a few days, I will introduce you to some well-bred ladies. You can meet them one by one."
"I won't meet them."
Steward refused bluntly.
Victoria responded nonchalantly, "It's no problem if you don't want to meet them now. I'm not in any rush to become a grandmother."
Then she added, "After all, given what you've done, your girlfriend won't be pacified and return. I'm not afraid of that."
To be honest,
She was truly stunned when Belinda came knocking on the door yesterday.
She thought her son was utterly determined to marry that woman.
In recent years, she frequently felt overwhelmed and had even considered conceding.
Fortunately, Steward's persistence was short-lived.
He was unable to control himself first.
Victoria looked down on Harper, not because of her personality, but her background. The daughters-in-law of the Brown family should, at a minimum, come from a family with a decent reputation in Finceland, not like Harper, a woman from the countryside with no parents. However, Victoria did admire one thing about her - she had principles, she had boundaries.
As for the issue with Steward, Victoria was not worried at all. She knew Harper would forgive him. Ultimately, she had to thank that annoying little actress.
“It's that one called Belinda that's hard to deal with. You're not willing to spend money now, so I guess I’ll have to think of another way," Victoria said as she picked up her cat, "You're paying the bill later, I’m going home first, remember, have your fun but don’t cause such a big mess for me again."
....
On the other hand, in the hotel.
Belinda was wildly throwing things around the room, leaving a mess. Tears streamed down her face out of anger.
The child was part of her long-planned scheme. She had poked holes in everything at home.
She didn't really have any hopes in the beginning when there wasn't any sign of pregnancy. However, one day at work she suddenly felt very sick. Initially, she thought it was just food poisoning and didn't pay much attention. But after vomiting excessively, she began to worry and requested a pregnancy test. To her surprise, the result came out positive.
The joy Belinda felt when she found out was now replaced with an indescribable sense of suffering.
She thought that she would soon become Mrs. Brown, leaping straight into the life of wealthy and influential.
She even fantasized the envious glances from those within her social circle.
What she didn’t anticipate was that Steward didn't want it.
He didn't want this child.
Belinda didn't see Steward in person. The subject of the child was discussed over a phone call. She had assumed that when Steward heard the news, he would rush excitedly to find her.
But all he said on the phone was, “I don’t want the child. You deal with it yourself.”
He then hung up.
Afterward, his phone was unreachable.
The idea to bear the child as leverage was suggested by her agent. Even if Steward disagreed, wouldn't Mr. and Mrs. Brown surely welcome their grandchild? Especially as it's the blood of the Brown family.
After all, Steward was already closing in on thirty, his parents must be eager to be grandparents.
Therefore, Belinda managed to obtain Victoria’s phone number from someone else. After she made the call, Mrs. Brown agreed to meet her.
Without any small talk, the first thing Victoria said was, "How much do you want to settle this?"
Belinda was utterly stunned. She sobbed, stating she didn't want any money. She really loved Steward and the child needed a father...
In short, she had given everything she had.
Victoria remained silent, watching her performance until the end, tainted with a hint of scornful laughter.
"You can't give birth to a child of the Brown family, so stop dreaming," Victoria spoke.
"The bride of the Brown family, even if not from a scholarly family, must be a noble and wealthy lady. You, a woman who sold herself and clawed your way up as a mistress, are you even worthy?"
Continuing, she said, "Steward's taste turned out to be so bad, increasingly worse, you're even inferior to Harper."
Finally, she uttered, "You better be sensible, and abort the child yourself, suffer less. If you're disobedient, don't blame others."
Belinda could not imagine that the people of Brownard Industry's family could be so ruthless.
But how could she just accept this?!
"Belinda, I still have a method."
Belinda's agent, who was her cousin, was currently giving her advice. "Do you know how that Giselle got married to Maverick?"
"She was pregnant, wasn't she?"
Giselle's rise to power due to her pregnancy was public news which Belinda of course knew.
She wanted to get pregnant to force Steward to marry her, from learning about Giselle.
The prestigious president of the Hyland Group's company, Maverick, could marry a disabled woman because of the child.
Why couldn't Steward marry her for the child?
However, unfortunately, things did not go as Belinda expected.
Steward does not want the child.
Her agent said, "It's not so simple, you must know, what kind of family is the Hyland family? Her sister at that time was even considered as marrying up, how could the Hyland family look upon Giselle? Those who want to give birth for Maverick could line up from Finceland to overseas. Giselle was smart, think about how she did it. She took the pregnancy test report, announced her pregnancy in front of most of Finceland's upper-class. Everyone knew she was carrying Maverick's child, what could the Hyland family do? If they pushed Giselle to abort the child, how many people would point fingers? If this argument made the news... under public opinion, you can imagine. In recent years, the stock of any company with scandal plummeted, and that's not a small amount, the Hyland family are not fools."
"You mean..."
Belinda already had an idea, her agent said, "Since you imitate her, imitating till the end. Now clean up, I'll accompany you for a prenatal checkup, and get the pregnancy test report first."
