Chapter 1172
Daniel couldn't help but be shocked after seeing everything that Toby did. Toby's skills with silver needles were incredible—as expected of a child trained by Lily. With all of Lily's and Loid's talents combined, the two kids were simply geniuses.
He walked over to Tilly and Toby. "Tilly, Toby, do you remember me?"
When Tilly saw him, she nodded excitedly. "I remember you, Mr. Greene! I wanted to give you a gift so that you'd be nicer to Ms. Sullivan."
Tilly's cuteness won him over. He patted the two kids on their heads. "Ms. Greene is very fond of you two. She talks about you every day. You guys have been playing together for a while, so why don't you come play with me?"
"Okay!" Tilly clapped her hands, swiftly forgetting how upset she had been earlier.
Since they had agreed, Daniel turned around and told Arthur, "Should I bring you home, Mr. Laurier Senior?"
Arthur didn't respond. All he did was stare at Tilly and Toby.
A long time passed before he pulled Daniel to the side and whispered, "Tell me. Don't you think these two kids look just like Loid?"
"Huh?" Daniel was stunned. Had Arthur realized it already?
Arthur rubbed his eyes and muttered, "I feel like they look just like him. I don't think I'm seeing things, but I still can't be sure. Take a look and tell me what you think."
The corner of Daniel's mouth twitched. Of course, they looked just like Loid. They were Loid's children, after all. How could they not look like him?
More importantly, though, he hadn't seen Arthur for the past few days. He didn't know what Loid and Lily were up to, so he couldn't just tell Arthur the truth about the two children.
Daniel thought about it for a moment before giving an ambiguous reply. "They do resemble him a little bit."
That wasn't considered a lie, was it?
"Right?" Arthur took another look at Tilly and Toby. "I think they look a lot like him. Do you think that bastard, Loid, might have gone and done something shameful? Did he secretly have two illegitimate children?
"What?" Daniel pinched his head. "I don't think so."
"Why not?" Arthur murmured. "Look. These kids are almost four years old. That means their mother must have gotten pregnant with them five years ago. Wasn't that when Lily passed away? Based on their ages, Loid must have been with another woman at the time!"
Daniel was speechless. He suddenly had no idea what to say.
"That bastard! How dare he betray Lily? I'm going to kill him!" Arthur stomped off angrily. He didn't even say anything more to the two children.
Tilly stared at Arthur's back figure before turning to ask Toby, "What's wrong with that old man? Why did he suddenly get angry? Did he realize that we were lying to him?"
Toby shook his head. "I don't think so. Your acting is so good, after all."
Her acting skills were enough to fool anyone who didn't know her.
"Let's hurry up and go, then. I want to play with Mr. Greene." Tilly didn't care about it anymore.
Toby nodded. He told the owner of the antique shop, "Give me your address, sir. I'll go take a look at your mother tomorrow."
"Huh?" The owner was still stunned by what he had witnessed earlier. He felt like the two kids had been putting on a show all day, and it was an amazing one at that.
"Didn't you want someone to treat your mother? Give me your address. I'll do it. When I'm done, give me this emerald. That'll be your end of the deal," Toby said seriously.
"I've already hired a miracle doctor, though. I told them I would pay three million dollars, so I'm trying to raise the money for it right now," the owner replied.
Toby pondered for a moment before handing the owner his card. "How about this? I'll buy the emerald for a million dollars first. Once I'm done treating your mother, you can refund me the money."
The owner thought about it before nodding. "Okay."
Either way, the more people who gave it a go, the more hope there would be for his ailing mother.
