Chapter 1177
Arthur stared at Lily in shock, his hand trembling as he pointed at her for what seemed like ages. "She… S-She…"
Melanie patted him on the back. "Don't get too worked up, Dad. That's Lily."
Arthur was speechless. He didn't even know who or where he was anymore. Was he still on Earth, or was he already in the afterlife?
Seeing the state he was in, Lily grinned. "Have you already forgotten about me, Grandpa Arthur?"
"Huh? Ah! Uh…" That was all Arthur could get out. Every sound he made had a different tone to it, and they all represented different emotions. Basically, his brain was short-circuiting.
Stunned, Arthur stood where he was for a long time before he walked over and patted Lily on the head. Then, he grabbed her arm and examined her all over.
Quietly, he muttered, "She's warm. Have ghosts gotten more advanced? Why are they warm now? I always heard that ghosts were supposed to be cold."
Lily was at a loss for words. Did she look like a ghost to him?
Tilly batted her eyes. She found her great-grandfather adorable. She walked over and grabbed Arthur's hand before saying, "My mother is as beautiful as an angel, Great-Grandpa. She's the prettiest woman in the world, and she looks much better than ghosts."
"I see…" Arthur was dazed. "Does that mean she's an angel?"
Before Tilly could respond, Arthur walked over to Lily and agitatedly asked, "Have you become an angel, Lily? Tell me. What do other angels look like? Are they all like you? Do they look the same as they did before dying?"
Lily had no idea how to respond to that.
Melanie pinched the space between her eyebrows. "Um… Lily isn't a ghost, nor is she an angel. She's a living person."
"Nonsense!" Arthur said. "Lily has already been dead for five years."
Melanie didn't know what to say. Arthur's brain just couldn't adapt as well as it used to. Luckily, Lily was back, so she could give him a check-up.
"I'm not dead, Grandpa Arthur," Lily stated. "I'm still alive."
Arthur let out another yell. Every exclamation he made was incredibly high-pitched, which was rather hilarious.
It took a while before Arthur was able to accept the fact that Lily was still alive. When he did, he hugged her and started sobbing miserably. "You're alive, Lily! This is amazing! The five years I spent grieving were unbearable. Just moments ago, I thought Loid cheated on you and had two illegitimate children behind your back, but it turns out those are your kids!"
Snot was leaking out of Arthur's nose as he cried. "I knew it. They've got such strong genes. They must have taken after you instead of Loid. Now that you're back, you'd better not leave again. I've got a weak heart, and I can't take another shock."
Lily couldn't help but laugh. "Okay. I won't leave. I'll stay here with all of you from now on."
"Really?" Arthur immediately stopped crying.
"Of course!"
"Okay." Arthur then crouched down to hug Tilly and Toby. "Come here, kids. You two can play with me from now on. I'll take you out to play games and look at all kinds of gorgeous men and women. We can go on a treasure hunt."
Lily was stunned into silence. She was starting to seriously suspect that Arthur had just been pretending to be emotional earlier.
In a cutesy tone, Tilly asked, "You play games, Great-Grandpa? How good are you? I don't play with noobs, you know."
"I'm pretty good. I'll carry you guys," Arthur boasted.
"I don't play games, Great-Grandpa," Toby protested.
"I'll take you to go look at pretty girls, then," Arthur offered.
Toby didn't know how to respond to that.
