Chapter 1947 A Terrifying Tree

“Heartbeat?“ A heartbeat could be heard coming from the tree. Could this tree have transformed into a spiritual being and formed a heart on its own? Everyone looked in the same direction. They saw countless turquoise roots knotting together, which grouped into a bundle and eventually spread to a distance of more than twenty meters. The sound of the heartbeat came from there. When they looked closely, they could see that the spot was trembling and beating constantly. “I’m going up there to take a look.” Otes jumped up the tree without any hesitation. He hurriedly ascended to the spot, which was twenty meters above the ground. When Otes put his hand on the tree trunk, he discovered that the sensation was nothing like touching a normal tree. It felt as if he was touching the glass. It was cold as ice in some places and hot as fire in others. The heartbeat became increasingly stronger when Otes got closer to that position. He had a feeling that the sound started resonating with his own heartbeat. He started becoming flustered, and his heart began to beat erratically and uncontrollably. Ba-dump… Ba-dump.. Ba-dump… Ba-dump… Squelch! Otes suddenly felt his heart cramping up in pain when he touched the spot where the beating was coming from. A powerful force suddenly shot out of the giant tree, blasting Otes away from it in an instant. “Master Otes!” Otes landed soon enough. His peers immediately stepped forward to help him up and asked him if he was okay. Otes’ expression became very serious, a trace of horror flickering past his expression amidst the solemnity. Another mouthful of blood gushed from his mouth. He raised his head to look at the giant tree’s beating heart. He then turned to look at the branches and leaves that had engulfed the sky. His expression darkened even more. He seemed to have thought of something. He couldn’t help but yell, “Retreat! Everyone, hurry up and retreat!” Before the group could react, they noticed the giant tree’s branches and leaves were frantically swinging. There was a whistling sound that came from the distance as if countless monsters were bellowing in the sky. A swoosh could be heard. One of the team members was entangled in a tree branch that had fallen from the sky. Another branch had pierced through that man’s chest before he could react. Everyone’s scalps prickled in fear because of this scene. Otes inhaled deeply and punched the branches that were winding toward him. “Everyone has to retreat now! This tree is a spiritual being! Hurry up!” Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh… More and more branches came at them from all directions. The group of over twenty people continued to wave their weapons in an attempt to split the branches. Unfortunately, not only did numerous branches attack them, but the power contained within the branches was also quite terrifying. After a while, nearly half of the group had perished due to the branches’ attacks. Only Otes and five Transformation warriors were able to make it to the space’s entrance in the end. When they looked up at the massive tree, they noticed the gruesome corpses of their peers dangling on the treetop. Grief was apparent on their faces when they saw this scene. Yet, they didn’t have the luxury of mourning for them at the time. A strong wind had begun to blow in this space. Countless leaves that had obscured the sky began to fall from the sky, each one wrapped in a kind of energy that was razor-sharp. It turned those leaves into flying daggers. “Get out of here!” Otes took a step forward and summoned a massive wave of inner strength to block the massive amounts of leaves falling from the sky. As a result, he got seriously injured. He took the last of his subordinates with him as they wretchedly fled the Forbidden Place. Only a few Transformation powerhouses escaped. We only got this map because my father blackmailed it from them,” Otes reprimanded them in a low voice. “Dace’s decision to keep the situation concealed from us is understandable. We could only blame ourselves for taking the whole situation too lightly.” “What should we do next, Master Otes?” Otes commanded in a deep voice, “Two of you should return right away and inform the family of the situation. Ask Dillon to personally come here. I’ll stay here to keep an eye on things.” “Yes, Master Otes!” Two warriors dashed out of the forest as quickly as they could and returned to the manor, while Otes and others stayed back in the forest. Dillon and a group of warriors arrived at this place a day later. “Dillon!” When Otes noticed Dillon’s arrival, he immediately approached him. “What’s the situation?” Dillon maintained his cool demeanor. Despite becoming the patriarch and a Demigod, his character remained unchanged. “They must have informed you about the situation,” Otes replied. “There is a tree in the Forbidden Place. Its branches and leaves had covered the majority of the sky and killed many of us.” Dillon frowned slightly and murmured, ”Is it possible for a tree to cultivate into a spiritual being?“ “There’s something like a heart wrapped in the tree. It looks very terrifying,” Otes replied. “You can go in there and look around. I have a feeling that it must be a sacred tree. This will be a huge gain if we can get it back home.” Dillon nodded lightly and said, “Then, we should go in.” “Set up the formation!” Otes immediately ordered his subordinates to enter the Forbidden Place using the previous method. “There’s no need to be so troublesome,” Dillon said with a wave of his hand. With that, Dillon followed the location on the map and went into the entrance by himself. He raised his hands, and a swarm of leaves flew out, forming a flood of sword energy that was blasted at the entrance. Boom, boom, boom! After a series of booms, the entrance suddenly appeared before everyone. “Get in!” Dillon flew into the space. He was the first one to jump into the entrance, while Otes and others trailed behind him. Soon, all of them entered the Forbidden Place. When Dillon saw the giant tree for the first time, he was astounded by the scene. This tree was truly massive and magical. “Stay here while I go check it out.”
