Chapter 1948 The Spiritual Being

Dillon didn’t dare to be careless after the previous experience with Otes and others. He approached the giant tree with caution. When Dillon walked into the area engulfed by the giant tree, he noticed that the giant tree seemed to be capable of sensing danger. The branches and leaves in the air began to sway violently all of a sudden. It reacted in the same way as before, hurling massive amounts of leaves at Dillon like flying daggers. “Whirling Slice!” Dillon commanded and took a light step forward. Following that, a slew of leaves rose from the ground, instantly wrapped in sword energy. Dillon blasted these leaves at the swarm of leaves that came at him from the sky. Boom, boom, boom! Hundreds of leaves exploded in Dillon’s immediate vicinity. On the other hand, he used his powerful sword energy to strike the giant tree and proceeded forward. As he got closer to the giant tree’s roots, countless branches began to swing, making threatening gestures as the tree launched its attack on Dillon. “Sword of Grace!” Dillon’s body shook violently, and the sword he carried on his back buzzed and soared into the sky. The sword didn’t fall into Dillon’s hand. Instead, it circulated around his body, cutting off any branches that attempted to attack its master. Everyone was surprised when they saw that scene. They wondered, “Is this the strength of a Demigod?” A Transformation powerhouse like Otes had been battered badly by this giant tree previously, seeing as he was unable to resist its attacks. Dillon, on the other hand, fought the tree easily as if it posed no theat to him. The giant tree could do nothing to stop him. Dillon soon arrived at the tree roots and stood right there. The heart-shaped thing that was wrapped in the trunk, which was located twenty meters above him, continued to beat nonstop. The sound it emitted was rather shocking. Dillon conjured the vitality energy beneath his feet and leaped to the spot of the giant tree’s heart with no further delay. When he climbed up the tree, a terrifying force was blasted at him. The situation was similar to what Otes had experienced back then, with Dillon forcibly taking the blast and flying away. “Dillon!” Seeing this, everyone was taken aback. They rushed up to Dillon right away. “I’m fine.” Dillon landed on the ground, but he didn’t appear to be badly hurt. He took a deep breath and returned his gaze to the beating heart on the tree. “That thing is very powerful,” he concluded. “Has this giant tree transformed into a spiritual being? Is that the heart of the tree? Even someone like you has trouble resisting that force?” Otes inquired in a surprised tone. “I’m not sure.” Dillon shook his head. He put two of his fingers together and waved them. After dancing around his head twice in a row, the sword flew toward the giant tree. A powerful force abruptly blocked the sword when it was a meter away from the heart. The sword flew back into Dillon’s hands in an instant, making him frown deeply. “How’s it going?” Otes asked. “I don’t…” Before Dillon could finish his sentence, the ground beneath his feet began to tremble as if an earthquake was occurring at that moment. Dense cracks started appearing on the ground. Hundreds of turquoise vines protruded from the cracks, entangling Dillon and others. The tree began to shake violently at the same time. Numerous leaves fell from the sky, each containing extremely powerful forces. The giant tree appeared to be enraged by Dillon’s actions. It had unleashed all of its strength to launch the most ferocious attack on them at this point. “Arghhhhhhh...!” There were endless screams that could be heard. Several warriors had perished in pools of their own blood. “Earth Sword!” Dillon roared. The Earth Sword from the Three Sword Scriptures blazed from his sword. Dillon’s sword shattered countless cracks on the ground almost instantly. Following that, there was an outpouring of sword energy that engulfed Dillon’s body and formed a massive sword storm. “Follow me!” Dillon growled in a low voice. The sword storm constantly deflected the giant tree’s attacks aimed at the group. Just like that, he led everyone back to the entrance. They lost nearly half of their team again. Everyone looked extremely grave at that point. “D*mn it! This thing... is terrifying!” A trace of horror started taking over those warriors’ minds. In the outside world, these warriors were regarded as first-class powerhouses, but they didn’t expect that a tree would defeat them. “Not even you could defeat this tree, Dillon?” Otes asked, slightly dissatisfied at the outcome. “This tree contains incredibly powerful energy,” Dillon explained. “However, it’s just a tree regardless of how powerful it is. We can’t rush it. We’ll need some time to figure out what characteristics this tree possesses. We must be patient if we want to gain anything from the Forbidden Place.” With that, Dillon sat cross-legged on the ground to regulate his breathing. He urged, “Leave everything to me! The rest of you are not the match for this tree. All of you shouldn’t get too close to it.” *** Meanwhile, there was an ancient structure located in a sandy area. This location was close to a desert, and this place was covered in yellow sand almost every day. This structure had been around for centuries. The clan that occupied the manor was one of the most powerful clans in the ancient martial arts world. It was the base camp of the Fryee family, one of the community’s Nine Creeds. A high-performance SUV was heading toward the manor as the sun was setting on this land. Two rows of deep skidmarks were left behind by the heavy wheels on the sand. Finally, the car came to a halt in an open area near the Fryee’s manor. Three people jumped out of the car when the door was opened. They looked like foreigners at first glance. One of them was a half-naked, well-built man. He was covered in body hair that was about one finger long. This bulky man looked fierce and rough. The second man was a young man in his thirties. He was dressed in a tuxedo and a fedora, and he happened to wield a wand. He was dressed in a very gentlemanly manner. The last man was an old man with a rickety figure. He was clad in black robes, and he looked like he was over a hundred years old. The three got out of the car, braced themselves against the sand flying in their direction, and walked all the way to the manor. The car’s wheels were capable of leaving two rows of skidmarks on the sand, but the trio didn’t leave any footprints as they entered the manor. Dace had just finished a round of cultivation training inside the manor. He was about to retire to his room to rest. “Patriarch, we have received some news,” a subordinate reported while striding toward him quickly at the time.
