Chapter 35 The Difficulties Created by Kathleen

The following two days were not that busy. Lyla worked as usual in the company every day. She thought that everything was over, but unexpectedly, Kathleen did not give up at all. She was a thorn in Kathleen’s flesh now, so Kathleen would not be at ease if she did not remove the thorn. One day, Lyla, who had just arrived in the company, was looking up information in her seat. Kathleen approached her in a pair of sky-high heels. Lyla looked up and saw a domineering Kathleen clad in a sexy red dress. Kathleen casually threw the document of a case on Lyla’s desk. “Ms. Lowe, you should pack up your things and leave if you can’t complete this case!” As Lyla looked at the document, she realized that Kathleen would not give up until she chased her away from the company. She might have to face such a situation regularly. Nevertheless, it was nothing. Kathleen had made the wrong move because she did not understand her personality. Lyla was someone who became stronger when she faced challenges. If Kathleen begged her to leave, she might agree to her request. However, she would do her job better when Kathleen used such a despicable method to drive her away. Lyla closed the document and raised her head with a smile. “Director Turner, if I complete this case, will you assign me a similar case next time?” “What do you mean by that?” Kathleen glared at her in displeasure. Lyla knew that Kathleen would definitely not give her a simple case. The case with Mr. Perkins was a good example. What kind of case would it be this time? Lyla smiled. “I was just wondering.” “Ms. Lowe, you just joined this company. Now is the time for you to prove your merit. Shouldn’t you work harder?” Kathleen looked at Lyla and uttered each word as she gritted her teeth. Surprisingly, Kathleen was picking on Lyla in an obvious manner. Kathleen was definitely someone who would never give up until she achieved her goals. “Director Turner, I don’t think you should give Lyla this case. She is already handling a big case, so there’s no need to assign her another case.” Lily could not stand it, and she spoke up for Lyla. “As M.K. Corporation’s chief designer, does she only need to handle one case? Sometimes, she has to handle multiple cases at a time. Have you decided, Ms. Lowe? Do you have any objections?” Kathleen asked provocatively. Everyone was aware that Kathleen was picking on Lyla on purpose. Lyla smiled. “You’re right, Director Turner. I’m willing to accept this challenge, but I’m not stupid, Director Turner. I know the reason behind your actions, so please don’t go too far!” Kathleen looked at her and sneered, “There won’t be so many problems if you leave.” “I’m afraid I’ll have to disappoint you, Director Turner. I was planning on resigning, but now, I’ve changed my mind!” “You!” Lyla shook the document that she was holding elegantly. “This is probably the last case assigned by you, Director Turner. I’ll definitely complete it!” Her indifferent expression made Kathleen even angrier and caused her face to turn red from rage. After she gave Lyla a fierce glare, she turned around and walked toward her office. As soon as Kathleen left, Lily walked up. “Lyla, she’s creating difficulties for you on purpose. Why did you accept the case?!” Lily could not help but ask. Lyla smiled as she packed up her things. “If I don’t accept the case, she’ll think of more ways to create problems for me and force me to accept it. So why don’t I just accept it? It will save me a lot of trouble.” Lily nodded. “That’s true. “But Kathleen is indeed petty. She’s actually picking on you just because of a small matter!” Lily could not help but complain. She did not know that Kathleen was antagonistic toward Lyla because she lacked confidence, and there was a trace of insecurity deep down in her heart. Right then, Lily casually picked up the case document that Kathleen had given to Lyla. She was stunned after she opened it. “Holy sh*t!” Lily could not help but swear. Her swearing instantly attracted many people’s attention. “What’s the matter?” Lyla looked at Lily and asked. It was her first time hearing Lily swear, so she felt a little surprised as she smiled. “It’s J.P. Corporation’s case!” Lily said in shock. “J.P. Corporation?” Lyla frowned. She could not get what Lily meant. “What’s wrong with J.P. Corporation?” Lyla asked. At that moment, a male designer went over. “How did this happen?” Lily shook her head. Lyla still had no idea after she saw their interaction. “Can you tell me exactly what the problem is?” “This is an impossible task!” Lily exclaimed. “Why?” “I don’t know if J.P. Corporation is trying to make things difficult for us on purpose. I heard that the late mother of J.P. Corporation’s president lost a beloved necklace. So they’ve asked our designers to replicate a new one, but no one has ever seen the necklace before! We can’t replicate it because they didn’t even provide us with a photo of the necklace. More importantly, the necklace requires a rare sky blue diamond!” That was why the case was difficult to complete. “This case has been rejected many times. I never thought Kathleen would let you handle it. It looks like she really wants to make things difficult for you!” the male designer said. Lyla raised her eyebrows. “What a troublesome case!” “If J.P. Corporation is trying to create trouble for us on purpose, why isn’t Mr. Pattinson doing anything?” Lyla was curious. Mark did not seem like someone who would ignore provocation. “I don’t know.” Lily shrugged and answered. Lyla pondered for a while and looked at Lily after that. “Give me the previous information on this case. I want to look through it!” “Sure thing!” … In the afternoon, Lyla sat in her seat and browsed through the information that Lily had provided her. Then, she searched for more information online. At last, she smiled. Lily went over when it was about time to get off work. “Lyla, should we go out for dinner together? We can go for karaoke after that.” Lyla thought about it for a moment. “Nah, let’s wait until I complete this troublesome case. Otherwise, you guys have to organise a farewell party for me later,” Lyla joked. Lily laughed after she heard Lyla’s joke. “All right, fingers crossed!” “Thank you!”
