Chapter 34 Don’t Get Close to Him
After Lyla got off from work, she bought some vegetables and daily necessities in the supermarket downstairs before she went home.
When she reached home, she was surprised to only see Hansel there.
Lyle had given her a call in the afternoon and told her that he would arrive home late, as he had a social event today.
‘Huh, where’s Gretel? Doesn’t she always want to hug me whenever I get home? Where has this crazy girl gone?’
“Darling, where’s your sister?” Lyla asked Hansel, who was sitting on the sofa, while she changed into a pair of slippers.
Hansel, who was busy with his work, did not say anything and pouted toward Gretel’s room as a signal.
What were these two up to?
Lyla walked toward Gretel’s room curiously.
Right after she opened the door, she saw Gretel holding a toy and playing happily.
When Gretel saw her mother come in, she quickly hid the toy behind her, but Lyla caught her actions.
“Darling, let mommy see what it is,” Lyla said kindly.
“It’s nothing. It’s just a toy.” Gretel squirmed and replied.
‘This girl, when did she become so dubious?’
“Gretel…” Lyla pulled a long face on purpose.
When Gretel noticed that her mother was getting a little angry, she pouted and brought forth the mermaid toy that she had hidden behind her reluctantly.
Lyla was stunned when she saw the toy.
“Darling, tell mommy, where did you get this from?” Lyla looked at Gretel.
“A handsome mister gave it to me,” Gretel told the truth since she knew that she could not hide it from her mother.
“Who was it? Which handsome mister?!” At this point, Lyla probably knew who it was as well.
“It’s Mr. Pattinson from your company!”
“It really is him!” Lyla’s heart skipped a beat. “How did you two meet?”
Thus, Gretel told Lyla the two encounters she had with Mark in detail. Of course, she automatically missed out on the fact that she wanted Mark to be her father. Otherwise, her mother would be angrier.
“Mommy, don’t be angry. I just wanted to look for you.” Gretel did not forget to defend herself after she told Lyla about her encounters with Mark. “Who would’ve thought that I would meet the mister instead of you both times?”
Lyla remained silent. She never expected to see such a coincidence in the world.
“The handsome mister and Hansel look alike, though. They look exactly the same!” Gretel said mysteriously.
“Be quiet!” Lyla shouted subconsciously.
“Mommy, what are you afraid of?” Gretel was shocked as well.
“I’m not afraid of anything! Just don’t get too close to that person in the future.”
“Why?”
“That person is too dangerous! He isn’t someone you should be close with!” Lyla did not know how to explain everything. She could not tell her children about her worries and concerns.
“Tch, are all handsome people dangerous? I don’t believe it!” Gretel gave her a contemptuous look. “That mister was kind to me!”
“Be obedient, darling.” Lyla hugged Gretel as if she was scared that someone would snatch her daughter away. “It’s all for your sake.”
“Well, okay. Your reason doesn’t convince me, but you’re my mommy.” Gretel seemed helpless.
“All right. Mommy will cook something delicious for you two.” Lyla walked out of the room uneasily. After she changed her clothes, she put on an apron and started to cook in the kitchen.
Gretel walked out as well later on. She looked at her mother with worried eyes.
She walked to her brother’s side, feeling down.
“Go ahead and tell me. What happened?”
“Mommy doesn’t want us to get close to the handsome mister.”
“We should be obedient then!”
“But the mister likes me a lot, and I like him too.”
“Oh?” Hansel’s expression became unfathomable.
His mother was in the kitchen. He stared at her back and believed his speculation even more.
He thought to himself, ‘Should I meet the rumored handsome guy who looks exactly like me?’
