Chapter 39 Why? Are You Jealous?

Mark raised his head once he heard her inquiry. He glanced at Lyla inadvertently and looked at Kathleen after that. Then, he cocked an eyebrow charmingly. “Why? Are you jealous?” “No way!” Kathleen denied and laughed. “But I can clearly smell a hint of jealousy,” Mark sneered. “I’m not that petty,” Kathleen rebuked and blushed. The next moment, Mark broke into a wicked and enchanting smile. His eyes became unfathomable. “Rest assured, I will tell you with actions tonight. You’ll be satisfied with the answer!” It was well-known that Mark was charming and enchanting. Even though Kathleen and Mark had been together for a long time, she would still be inevitably captivated by his gaze. Kathleen blushed even harder when she heard Mark’s words. Even the strongest woman would become coy in front of the man she liked. Furthermore, Kathleen was just a girl who had been spoiled by her family. She was only slightly arrogant toward other people. In front of Mark, however, she had always been well-behaved and thoughtful. It was also why Mark had been together with her for the past few years. Mark still wore a wicked smile as he looked at Kathleen’s blushing face, but his thoughts had wandered inadvertently. Mark had met Kathleen by chance at a cocktail party six years ago. She was attentive toward him with all her heart, so they got along pretty well. He was probably used to her initiative, which was why he had always been passive in their relationship. If Mark really wanted to find someone to marry, he supposed that the person might be Kathleen. But he seemed to feel that something was lacking between them. It was an indescribable feeling. “Mark, hurry up and eat. The food is getting cold.” Kathleen graciously picked up some dishes for Mark. “Okay.” Mark looked down. “What were you thinking about just now?” Kathleen saw him deep in thoughts earlier. “It was nothing!” Mark frowned and answered. Kathleen stopped asking. She would not get an answer if it was something that he did not want to talk about. After being together for six years, she felt like there was some distance between them. They got along pretty well, but in the end, she still did not know what was in his heart. “Hurry up and eat.” Kathleen did not continue the conversation and just urged Mark to eat. “I’m done eating,” Mark responded indifferently. Mark slowly raised his head and glanced at Lyla, as well as Arden, who were eating together intimately over the other side. His mood turned sour. He no longer had the appetite to eat, so he paid the bill and left. All of these events were unknown to Lyla, who had been dining in the restaurant. She and Arden were still immersed in the joy of their reunion. “You should eat as well, Arden. Don’t just watch me eat.” Lyla smiled faintly. “It’s also an enjoyment to watch you eat,” Arden joked. “Uh, all right...” Lyla was speechless at Arden’s reaction. “...if you can be full just by watching me.” “You can’t do it, but I can,” Arden said mischievously. “Uh…” Lyla was ashamed and speechless. “You know what, Lyla, I searched for you for a long time after you left without saying goodbye six years ago.” Arden changed the subject. “Oh, really? I had some troubles at home at that time, so I didn’t have time to say goodbye to you.” Lyla did not really want to talk about what had transpired six years ago. Moreover, she wanted to hide it, so she would not let others find out about it easily. “In that case, this time, promise me that you won’t disappear again, okay?” Arden’s tone was a little rushed this time.
