Chapter 74 This Is a Lesson

After Lyla walked in, she stared at Gretel. Gretel gave her a charming smile. Lyla could not wait to drag her out and taught her a lesson. Without hearing any sound, Mark Pattinson lifted his gaze and when he saw Lyla, he frowned. It was the first time after a month, she came to look for him! The last time they met was during Kathleen Turner’s accident, it was only a quick glance. He looked at her coldly. “Is there anything?” She could feel his rage, so Lyla got her emotions under control, walked over to him, and spoke professionally. “Mr. Pattinson, this requires your signature!” Looking at the document in her hand, she frowned. “That’s all?” “Mhm!” Lyla nodded. Mark Pattinson felt displeased. He took the document from her and signed it without even taking a look at it. “Take it!” Lyla took it and said, “If there’s nothing else, I’ll leave now!” Mark Pattinson frowned. He was about to say something but, with Gretel’s presence, he held back his words and did not stop Lyla from walking out. At that moment, Gretel looked at Mark Pattinson and contemplated for a moment. “Mister, I need to go out for a while!” Mark Pattinson was not in the mood. He did not respond to her, so Gretel immediately walked out. At the corner, Lyla was seen waiting for her right there. Gretel surrendered herself and walked over to her. “Mommy!” She immediately gave her an endearing smile. Lyla did not know how to teach her a lesson. “Gretel, are you out of your mind?” “What’s the matter, Mommy?” Gretel asked pretentiously. She dared to ask this question. “Did you just say what’s the matter?” Lyla asked her. “You...” She was seething and speechless. Gretel smiled. “Mommy, don’t worry. Daddy doesn’t know anything!” Of course, he did not know. If not, Mark Pattinson would not have talked to her so calmly! Watching Lyla in a fit of rage, Gretel knew she could not stay stubborn for long, so, she simply blurted out and said, “Mommy, don’t be angry. I won’t repeat it the next time!” Gretel was smart. She knew that once she humbled herself and admitted her mistakes, Lyla would not say anything. “You…” “Mommy, I was wrong!” Gretel immediately held Lyla’s hand and wore an endearing smile. With that look, how could Lyla blame her? “I’m warning you, if anything happens, you’ll bear the consequences!” Lyla was mad and helpless at the same time. Gretel shook her head. “Mommy, I can guarantee you that there won’t be any hiccups!” Her appearance with Mark Pattinson on the television news today had indeed given her a shock. One should know that people nowadays were geniuses and able to dig up one’s information with a snap of their fingers. She did not want to let Mark Pattinson know about their existence. Otherwise, she dared not imagine the consequences… At that moment, just as Lyla was about to continue, the office door was opened abruptly. “Gretel!” Mark Pattinson suddenly cried out and stunned them. When she heard Gretel’s reply, she smiled and said, “You’re welcome!” “I’ll leave now!” Those words were meant for Mark Pattinson, not for Gretel. Mark Pattinson remained silent while Lyla turned and left. Gretel stood still. She saw Mark Pattinson was watching Lyla’s silhouette from behind. She could not help but blurt out, “Mister, that lady is very pretty. She’s as pretty as my mommy!” Mark Pattinson was speechless. He gave Gretel a side glance and did not ponder much. “Come, let’s go in!” Gretel nodded and followed him. After she was out of Mark Pattinson’s sight, Lyla heaved a sigh. Luckily, Gretel had reacted fast. If not, she would not have known how to respond to the situation. She realized that her response was getting slower. After thinking for a while, she decided to teach Gretel and Hansel a lesson! At night, when Lyla went home, Hansel and Gretel were already waiting there. Upon Lyla’s return, not only did they bring water to her but they also massaged her back. “Mommy, are you tired today?” “Mommy, are you thirsty? Do you want to drink some water?” Hansel and Gretel surrounded her by putting in gallant efforts. Lyla did not speak a word. Thankfully, nothing happened today. If not, the situation would be otherwise. She sat on the couch and remained silent, leaving the two kids to their gallant efforts. “Not bad!” she said calmly. At that moment, Hansel sat in front of Lyla. “Mommy, I have something to discuss with you!” Lyla laid down leisurely while enjoying their service. After she drank some water, she opened her mouth and spoke in a lackadaisical manner, “Say it!” “In regards to today’s incident, both of us have reflected on ourselves and we find that the fault is with us. Mommy, we were wrong!” “Yes, we’re wrong!” Gretel played along with Hansel. Lyla was speechless. Before she had even opened her mouth to discipline them, they had already taken the initiative to admit their own fault. She did not feel any sense of achievement! Nevertheless, it was better to admit fault than otherwise since it was an admirable attitude. As such, Lyla did not say much. “Now both of you know that it’s your fault, huh?” Hansel and Gretel nodded in unison. “Yes, we were wrong!” “Will you both repeat the mistake in the future?” “I’ll never ever show up with Daddy on the news again!” Gretel gave Lyla her word. She had only mentioned that she would not show up on the news, but she did not give her word that she would not show herself to him again. Lyla already knew her tricks. However, she did not object to their will to contact Mark Pattinson. All she wished for was to keep the matter low profile. She did not want them to get hurt.
