Chapter 454 Don’t Bully Her
Nell hung up the phone and dialed Old Master Garrett’s phone number.
Old Master Garrett was naturally worried sick, but his worries were eased when he picked up the phone and was informed by Nell that she was okay.
She asked about his health over the phone as well.
The old man was finally able to breathe now that the only regret in his life had been atoned. There was nothing else he would like to get done.
Not to mention he was more than fine with Nell marrying into the Leith family. Gideon Leith was someone he trusted. He felt happier than ever at this moment even with his deteriorating health.
Nell’s lips tugged into a small smile when she heard his laughter through the phone.
“Grandpa, take good care of your health. I’ll visit you when I get back.”
“Okay. Take care of yourself too. Tell me if Gideon ever dares to bully you. I’ll help you beat him up.”
Nell chuckled at that. “Okay, I’ll remember to do that,” she said with a nod.
As she was hanging up the phone, she saw Gideon entering the room accompanied by Matthew.
“What’s the good news?” Gideon asked. It was very likely he had heard her laughter just now.
Nell pursed her lips. “Grandpa just called. He said if you ever bully me, he’ll help me beat you up.”
Gideon was shocked.
Matthew, who was standing behind him, immediately saw the chance to suck up to him. “How can the president have the heart to bully you? He can’t even hold himself back from loving you, let alone bully you.”
“Matthew Starks,” Gideon warned.
Matthew’s back went cold, and he clamped his mouth shut right away. He did not dare to offend Nell in any way.
Nell chuckled lightly. “How was your medical examination? Everything all right?”
“Everything’s fine. It’s healing,” Gideon said.
His wound was located at a critical area on his chest, and his organs were damaged. That was why he needed to change the dressing of his wound every day. He would also need to schedule appointments regularly with the hospital to make sure his damaged organs were healing right.
Nell nodded at Gideon’s words. She let Matthew leave to prepare lunch when she saw that it was getting late.
After lunch, Nell and Gideon took a nap together. It was already 3:00 pm when they woke up.
Nell recalled the thing she asked Quinn to do and wondered about his progress.
Coincidentally, his phone number flashed across her screen just as she thought about him.
He told her through the phone that Scarface would be fighting at the Tiger’s Den. If she wanted to find him, that would be the place to go.
Nell gave her affirmation and hung up the phone. She informed Gideon of the news.
Gideon contemplated in silence. “I’ll go with you.”
Nell frowned.
“But your wounds…”
“It’s nothing. We’re going there to talk, not fight.”
Nell could not argue with that.
Gideon was able to walk on his own now, and he even attended Griffin’s birthday party. It would not be an issue for him to visit the Tiger’s Den.
Just as he said, they were going to talk peacefully, not to fight.
With that, the plan was settled.
Nell was so bored in the afternoon that she took Giden out for a walk.
Although Gideon’s wounds had made an amazing recovery, and the doctor cleared him to walk, he was still advised not to physically exert himself. He was severely injured, after all.
That was why he was pushed out of the doors in a wheelchair with Matthew’s help.
As expected, Nancy followed them. The four of them went down the stairs and walked around in the field.
Nell was bored out of her mind when she remembered Dragon Regiment’s main racing circuit, which she frequented during her time in Country F, was not far from where they were staying now. Her desire to visit the place became irrevocable.
“Gideon, why don’t we go out for a while?” she suggested.
Gideon raised an eyebrow and peered at her. A small smile tugged at his lips. “Where do you want to go?”
“I know a place not far from here. Let’s go there.”
Gideon saw the excitement in her eyes, and he knew how boring it had been for her to stay with him at the hospital all those days after he was injured.
He nodded and agreed to go.
Nell was delighted by his response and called for Matthew and Nancy to join.
There was an old auto depot near the hospital.
The depot was huge, and there was vacant land right behind it. The hill beside the land had been developed, but the place remained desolate. Not a lot of people could be seen roaming the area.
She remembered that there were more people around when she was with the racing club. Nell did not expect things to change so much in just a few years.
The racing club dissolved when Dragon Regiment was facing internal conflicts. There was no one around anymore. Everything had been abandoned.
Nell took Gideon along a familiar path. Her eyes narrowed as she looked at the race tracks.
“Gideon, guess what place this is.”
Gideon stared at the metallic grey building and the winding race tracks. “Dragon Regiment’s racing circuit,” he said.
Nell snapped her fingers.
“You’re right.”
Gideon knew about her past very well, and Nancy saw her as one of her friends, so there was no need to hide.
Matthew was Gideon’s most trusted assistant, so he knew about her past too.
No one was especially surprised by her words because of that.
Nell took them inside the building. There was a large field right past the doors. Rows of grey houses loomed before them.
These merciless buildings stood tall on the ground and gave off an oppressive aura.
“I’m thinking back to the time when I just arrived at Country F. I didn’t have anyone then, and I was involved in an accident that made me lose some of my memories. If Dragon Regiment didn’t take me in, I’m afraid I would’ve met my end already, and I certainly won’t be here today.” Nell sighed.
Her face went blank when she arrived at that thought.
Gideon stared into her eyes and picked her hand up silently.
“You have me now.” Nell snapped back into reality by the sound of his voice.
She turned to look at him. Thin rays of sunlight were shining right on Gideon. His presence somehow made her feel safe and comforted.
She smiled a little and nodded.
“Yeah. Thank heavens that you’re here.”
They continued to walk. Nancy and Matthew knew about her past, but their curiosity was piqued nonetheless as this was the first time they visited a place like this.
The people from Dragon Regiment had all moved away, but they left behind a lot of stuff since the building had been renovated before.
Nell introduced each building to her company. There was the reception area, the rest area, the training area, the entertainment spot and so many more.
Dragon Regiment had a huge community. The racing club was only one of its many divisions, but the people in the club did not participate in any other divisions.
That was precisely how the racing club was able to evade the headquarters’ control so easily and detach itself from Dragon Regiment when it was having internal conflicts.
Matthew’s eyes lingered on the training marks left on the race tracks and sighed. “I’ve heard a long time ago that Graham’s third son was illegitimate, but he was still a force to be reckoned with. He was doing exceptionally well overseas. Who would’ve expected something like this to happen? We really can’t judge a book by its cover.”
Nell chuckled.
“How bad of a person do you think he is? He’s shrewd and has a wild heart. Why can’t we judge him based on that?”
