CHAPTER TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY FOUR – HOPE OR DESPAIR?
As the sun began to dip towards the horizon, casting long shadows across the beach, Kayla surveyed the scene before her.
The initial panic had given way to purposeful activity. Richard's team was efficiently sorting through the wreckage, salvaging anything useful. Sarah had set up a makeshift medical station, tending to minor injuries. Others were gathering palm fronds and debris to construct rudimentary shelters.
Brittany approached, her phone held aloft. "Hey, Kayla? I know this might sound weird, but... do you think I could interview you? You know, for the documentary I'm making about our survival."
Kayla couldn't help but smile at the young woman's resilience. "Sure, Brittany. What do you want to know?"
"Well, first off, how are you staying so calm? I mean, we just crashed on a deserted island! Aren't you freaking out?"
