CHAPTER I -30

Ryan and Eric seemed to be having a good time enjoying their meal when a shooting spree broke out. Everyone in the restaurant scrambled in different directions in fear of their life, everyone was screaming in fear. Ryan and Eric weren't left out, they also ran and hid behind one of the pillars in the restaurant. Eric held Ryan against the wall protectively by her waist, they both thought they were safe but soon had to find another hiding Place as it seemed the gunshots were all directed to their hiding spot. Eric acted as a shield for Ryan and dragged her away from the pillar to the bar stand. He crouched next to her but had to leave her to rescue a panicking old man who stood adjacent to them. The old man was too shocked to make a move so Eric had to drag him to safety. Whilst saving the old man, Eric spotted a woman and her child in a vulnerable state, they were a bit far from safety so he had to also save them. He returned to the position he left Ryan but didn't meet her there, he looked up just in time to see her going up the stairs trying to evade all of the bullets being shot at her. Eric looked back and suddenly realized all of the shooters had their guns pointed at Ryan. The shooters all had black masks and it was difficult for him to fish out their faces. He jumped in Ryan's direction hoping to distract them from her but he didn't succeed, they kept going after her. It became glaring and clear to Eric that they were there for Ryan, she was the one they were after. He immediately jumped into action and ran up the stairs after Ryan, the gunmen followed suit. It was a race of run and hide for them and the gunmen which were hot on their tails. They soon got to a bend and weren't sure which way to go. Eric decided to step out and buy time for Ryan to run to the garage and get the car. He stepped out and the shooting ceased for a while, designs signaled from running off and she did. Ryan ran towards the garage, she spotted their car and quickly got in, she reversed briskly and drove backward to catch up with Eric. "Get in the car." She shouted at him. "Keep driving, I'll catch up with you." Eric panted, he wanted to make sure Ryan made it away from the gunmen and was trying to make them run after him. "I can't do that Eric." She screamed at him. "I said you should keep driving, I'll catch up with you." Ryan, being an adamant wolf, didn't listen to Eric's plea for her to keep driving, leaving Eric with no choice but to run in the opposite direction. The Gunmen followed suit hoping that he was leading them to where Ryan ran off unknown to them she was the one In the car. Ryan realizing what Eric had done, hit hard on the accelerator and drove blindly into the woods. It took all of her self-restraint from shifting into her wolf and killing off those men. Her wolf was so pissed and was itching for a kill. She badly wanted to go back and rip the heads off the men shooting at her, but she knew she couldn't do that as she was in the human world and couldn't unleash her powers in front of the humans. She was just a simple human in the human world and killing those men would not only call attention to her but also reveal the presence of the supernaturals amongst the humans. And that would put all of the realms in jeopardy which she didn't want. This was the only thing that restricted her from going for the head of the men when she realized they all had their guns shooting at her. Eric soon caught up with her panting heavily, he had succeeded in losing the men. "What the hell." Eric cursed as soon as he got into the car. "What the hell too." She hissed angrily at him. "Those bastards were after you." He informed clasping his seat belt. "Yes I know," Ryan replied, focusing on driving. "You knew and instead of driving to safety, you did otherwise." Eric started with an incredulous look. Ryan ignored him and kept driving, She drove to a safe distance before bringing the car to a halt. "What are you doing again?" Eric questioned gulping water from the water bottle in the backseat. She grabbed her purse from where she'd thrown it under the back seat and retrieved her phone from it. "Calling the pack." She replied placing a call to the pack to inform them of the attack. ***** Meanwhile, Ryan wasn't the only one who was attacked. Cassie was also attacked at Lord Romeo's mansion. Cassie and Lord Romeo had gone for a walk in the courtyard of the mansion. Lord Romeo was reclining on one of the chairs whilst Cassie had wandered around the yard. A tree sprouting Lillies has gotten her attention and she wandered towards it hoping to pluck one for Lord Romeo. She reached the tree and was reaching to pick another flower from the other ones she had picked when three masked men surrounded her. They also had black masks over their faces hiding their identity. One of them pounced on Cassie and immediately tied clothing over her mouth shutting out her scream. She whimpered and struggled with them, making them tie her hands also. Call it the mate bond or whatever but Lord Romeo felt discomfort and immediately screamed for Cassie. He called her twice and didn't get a response, he felt she was playing a trick on him by not answering his calls and reclined back to his chair browsing through the magazine by his side. He picked up his glass of wine and brought it near his lips to take a sip but the glass slipped off his hands and shattered into pieces. That was an ominous sign and Lord Romeo sprung off his seat in the direction Cassie had gone. He walked hurriedly in the direction he saw her go but she wasn't in sight. He soon got to the Lily tree and noticed a sign on the ground indicating a struggle had taken place there. Not too far from where the struggle had taken place, he saw Cassie's hairpin and the lilies she had picked scattered in all directions. He picked up the air pin and immediately panicked realizing it was the one he had gifted her just the previous night. He rushed back to where they both sat before, picked up his phone, and dialed his head guard, he ordered the total closure of the mansion, and no one was allowed to move in or out of the mansion. He ordered all of his guards to search all around the courtyard's vicinity. He wasn't excluded, he also went to all corners of the courtyard, yelling her name at intervals. Cassie's attackers didn't want to raise an alarm by shooting her as they were directed so they decided to abduct her and kill her when they had gotten out of the mansion. They would have made it out of the mansion successfully if Lord Romeo had not ordered the closure of all escape routes. They dragged a still struggling Cassie back to the courtyard to find a place to hide until the coast was clear for them to flee. Unfortunately for them, they walked back in the direction Lord Romeo was coming towards. They didn't even spot him as they were trying to stop Cassie from struggling. Lord Romeo who was looking behind every tree and shrub and corner looked ahead and spotted some masked men struggling with something. He ran to them and saw them trying to calm Cassie who was still struggling to set herself free from them. He witnessed one of them slap Cassie when she refused to stay calm and he lost every ounce of control in him, he rushed towards then, pulled the man off Cassie, and pounced on the man who had slapped her, he dealt blows to him to the dug his elongated fangs into his shoulders bursting open his vein, without bothering to feed on his blood, he snapped off his neck and pulled it off his neck. He flung him off and attacked the two other men who were fleeing and killed them respectively in gruesome ways. He quickly rushed to Cassie and untied her, he carried her back into the house to nurse her wounds. Her shoulders were bruised and she had scratches on her knees, her gown was even torn whilst she was struggling with her abductors. Lord Romeo almost went crazy thinking of what would have happened to her had he not arrived in time.
