CHAPTER I - 31

Ryan placed the call to the pack to inform them of the attack and ready them in case she was attacked again. The person she called quickly reached out to Alpha Lucas informing him that Ryan just called and was attacked some minutes back. Alpha Lucas got worried and kept blowing up Ryan's phone with calls but Ryan didn't pick up. This further got him on edge as he got scared of her being attacked again and not being able to call the pack to ensure her safety. He went into the confines of his study room pacing back and forth hoping that she would arrive soon or maybe return his call. An hour passed and she still wasn't back, he sauntered into the pack large living room pouring himself a cold glass of drink. He was on edge and each time he heard footsteps, he'll leap to his feet hoping it was her. He was on his third drink when he decided to call her again. He dialed her number and her ringtone surprisingly sounded at the entrance. He ran out immediately and saw her standing on the balcony, unknown to him, she was waiting for Eric who went to park the car in the garage. He rushed to her and spun her around checking for scars and injuries and blood spills. This action irritated Ryan. She pulled out of his arm and walked into the living room, Alpha Lucas followed suit. "Are you okay?" he asked as she sat flinging her bag on the other seat. "I'm fine." She replied dryly pulling off her shoes. "I called countless times but you didn't pick." He asked switching to the Alpha tone. "There was no need to since I already know you wanted to ask if I was fine." She replied. "What were you doing in the human realm?" Alpha Lucas was confused about why Ryan would go to the human realm. She didn't inform him she was going to the human realm and he had gotten so worried since he was informed of her distress call. "I went on a date," Ryan replied, bored by his questions. "A date…. With Eric I presume." Alpha Lucas said and almost at the same time Eric walked in silencing whatever else Alpha Lucas had to say. "Good day Alpha Lucas." Eric bowed in greeting. Alpha Lucas ignored his greeting and immediately bombarded him with questions. "What happened today?" "We were attacked by some gunmen sir," Eric replied dutifully. "You both were attacked or Ryan was attacked?" Alpha Lucas asked. "Everyone was attacked by them at first sir and we tried to get to safety, it was at that point I noticed she was being attacked," Eric stated. "The men who attacked Ryan were from which realm?" He asked, glancing at the both of them. Eric looked to Ryan in hope that she'll reply to Alpha Luca's question but she just started ahead forcing him to reply. "We are ignorant of the realm they are from sir." Eric scratched his head with the car keys. "Are you saying none of you picked up at least a hint to trace them?" Alpha Lucas asked. "You don't have to worry about me, I'm fine," Ryan said. She stood up, picked up her bag and her shoes, and walked out of the living room in the direction of her house. Leaving both Eric and Alpha Lucas confused about her action. The truth was Ryan was irritated by Alpha Lucas's questioning and him acting as if he cares for her, she was hanging on a thin line of restraint to not snap at him to keep quiet and mind his business. Eric noticed the tension and sudden silence that followed Ryan out of the room and tried as much as possible to avoid any other discussion about their date with Alpha Lucas, he also hurried after her. "Good night." He said hurriedly, closing the four firmly behind him. Alpha Lucas was left alone in the living room wondering why Ryan was suddenly acting up, she was replying to his questions coldly and seemed uninterested in the care he was showing towards her, she had also been avoiding him for a while. And although he was jealous that she went out on a date with Eric, he didn't voice it out. But that didn't stop him from deciding to investigate more on the attack more. He decided to visit the human realm and retrieve the CCTV from the restaurant and see if he could find a hint to who Ryan's attackers were. He stood up and headed to his room, his mission to the human realm laying heavily on his heart. He was worried and confused as to why Ryan should be attacked. "Has she offended anyone?" He asked himself. "Which realm would even try to attack my beta?" He muttered. He stopped right in front of his bedroom as a thought crossed his mind. "What if she was attacked go get at me, she's my Beta and the closest person to me asides from Hera." He thought to himself. He stood there brooding for a while before finally reclining to his bedroom. ******* As early as he could, Alpha Lucas arrived in the human realm. He went early putting into consideration the fact that he was a popular business tycoon on earth and his presence would surely garner attention. So he decided to go there before the humans began filling up the streets. He chose a shabby-looking car and dressed like an average human in order not to call attention to himself. He also tried to disguise himself so whoever he would meet at the restaurant wouldn't trace his face to Luca Castillo the famous business tycoon. He parked in front of the restaurant and walked in. A few people were already inside, most of them were there to have a quick morning coffee or some toast. Wallisestaurant was owned by a successful human who seemed to be dragging a successful business owner position with Lord Romeo. He was a man who tends to mind his business so Alpha Lucas hoped and prayed that he wouldn't end up spiling blood in his quest at the restaurant today. He walked up to the counter and made a request to see the manager, a call was made and he was ushered into an office on the second floor of the restaurant. As soon as he got in, he was greeted by the sight of a bald elderly man. "Good day young man, what can I do for you?" The man greeted him looking back at the book he was reading before Alpha Lucas came in. Alpha Lucas leaned against the wall with his arms akimbo. "There was an attack here last night, that's why I'm here." Alpha Lucas said. His statement quicker the man's attention and he immediately closed the book he was reading and focused squarely on Alpha Lucas. "How does the attack have to do with you? Are you a police officer?" The man asked reclining back on his seat. "I'm not a police officer, I'm just here to see the CCTV footage." Alpha Lucas replied truthfully. "I can't let you view the CCTV if you're not an officer of the law." The man stated. Alpha Lucas not wanting to drag the matter further, retrieved a was of note from his back pocket and slammed it on the table. He had come to realize that in situations where he couldn't use his powers, money can be used as most ns were greedy and would always find opportunities to make money. The man whistled and immediately picked up the money In fear that Alpha Lucas might take it back, he pulled it over his nose and sniffed it, check checking their originality before throwing it into his bag. "Were you attacked?" He asked after tucking the money safely in his bag. "Someone important to me was." Alpha Lucas replied. "Oh I see, but you know the officer of the laws are the ones who should access the CCTV camera since that is evidence to them?" The man stated with the hope of getting more money from Alpha Lucas. "Get me the damn clips?" Alpha Lucas ordered using his Alpha tone, he had planned to not use any of his powers but when he realized the man wanted to trick him into giving him another money, he was forced to. The Alpha tone worked on him and he stood up immediately leading Alpha Lucas to the access room where the screen showing all the actions on the camera was being displayed. He gave orders to the two control guys to allow Alpha Lucas to have access to anything he wanted before scurrying out of the room. Alpha Luca gave one of the control guys the time of the attack and ordered him to retrieve the scenes that took place during that period. In a few minutes, the scene was ready and he sat down flanked by the two control guys to watch the scene.
